PMJackson21 0
The Art of War by Sun Tzu (sp) Â never read it, but Im guessing it would helpI have, and it does. There is also this new book that I haven't read, but incorporates Sun Tzu's ideas into tournament poker:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/081840647...glance&n=283155Ha, that's like the 3rd time I've linked the guy's book and I haven't even read it. I deserve some % of his Amazon sales. :-)Patrick

Guest
Paul Phillips mentioned this book oncehttp://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0316...3737022-8985110He said he had a 'blink' moment when someone raised like 50 chips less than normal. I leafed through it at a bookstore, but I've never read it.so there.

wax120 0
Howard Lederer recommends Zen in the Art of Archery on his ridiculous DVD. I think anything on Nonverbal Behavior or telling (and detecting) lies can help, unless it's ludicrously detailed academic drivel with no real world value. There are several books in this area, I don't have any must have recommendations though. This is most valuable for live play though, clearly. If you are a winning player, picking up some stuff on sheltering yourself from taxes is a pretty good idea.

also, hasnt howard lederer commented on some sort of zen book that has helped his game alot? No, you don't need to read 'The Art of War' first. Honestly, the style of writing isn't what most people would call exciting. From what I understand about Aspotolico's book, he includes a great deal of excerpts from 'The Art of War', so anything that can be applied to poker is probably included.Lederer seems to favor 'Zen in the Art of Archery'; all about staying in the moment.http://www.howardlederer.com/howard-ledere...r-article9.htmlTo be honest, any Buddhism book could be helpful to your mental game. For the 10th time, I'll plus Larry Phillip's book, 'Zen and the Art of Poker' as well:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/045228126...glance&n=283155Patrick
