new computerized tables introduced in the b&ms

There was a little news article on cardplayer.com about a new poker table that eliminates the dealer, the cards and the chips from the game. Each player sits in front of a touch screen that display their hole cards, their chip stack and buttons to offer their betting options. The middle of the table has a larger screen sunken into it to display the flop, turn, river. This is supposed to eliminate mistake dealing, more hands per hour and never mistakning any payouts. Just want to get people's opinion on this invention. IMO, I think it's a complete joke. If I want to play poker on a machine, I'll stay at home. The whole idea of live play is that it's live, right? Plus, it removes tells from the live game, how someone pushes their stack on a bet, how they are shuffling chips, etc. Aren't allowing sunglasses enough? Fire away.

sounds weird but 15 years ago if someone told you that there was going to be this thing called the internet and people would be playing poker on their computer screen,that would have sounded weird too.

I had some friends think about this a few years ago. We've talked about the pros and cons, but it will never catch on. People (except the tv poker generation & internet) will prefer live games in B&M with chips. The dealer doesn't matter much, but chips are here to stay.Remeber, the guy who invented poker was brilliant, but the guy who invented the poker chip was a genius.

I think it is great idea. It eliminates the dealer and tipping, reduces errors, and most importantly speeds up the game giving us more hands per hour.We can still watch the other players which is what I want in a live game, not having a dealer deal live cards.If you want to riffle chips, just bring a handful with you :-) .

I've seen these things at the Winstar in Oklahoma. These are by far the crap-happiest tables I've ever seen in my entire life. Think boring night at home, except you can do it at a casino 80 miles from home. Seriously, if you're going to play internet poker, do it at home where the rake isn't 10% up to $5 at a $1/2 Limit Hold em Game.
