poker stars banned my chat for saying "gay"

Recommended Posts

This guy was railing Chris Moneymaker and badgering him like you wouldn't believe. I told the guy to stop being gay. Next thing you know my chat is banned for taking up for one of their Champions! That site is something else, THEY ARE GAY. I'm banning Poker Stars, screw them. Who's with me? :club:

Did you really vote in your own poll? Cuz that might be considered... but I digress.

Why?  Man, gay is used in so many different contexts these days.I use the term to describe something as lame rather than homosexual.
When someone says "Gay" (just that word), what's the first thing you think of?When the first thing you think of is "lame," then we can talk.

I'm not crazy about the use of the word "gay" to mean "lame". I know it's common colloquial usage these days, but what if the n-word became popular usage among non-African-Americans to represent something like that?I can tell you this, everybody would be in absolute uproar about it, and it disappoints me that some groups should be subject to this while others immune. That being said, there are other ways in which I do feel the PokerStars chat is too restrictive (although thankfully, I've never been caught up in that), so I did vote "yes" in the poll.

Let me pose this then. If I were gay (which I sho nuff am not) would it be ok for me to use that term, just as it's ok for black folks to use the n word? Like I said, everyone is so afraid of hurting other peoples feelings, it's pussification of America, George Carlin has a great bit about it. :club:

But see, it isn't really about hurting other people's feelings, although it is for some folks. It's about realizing that you have a wide variety of words that are at your disposal, and that the overuse of certain words make you sound like a bumbling fool. It's also about making the connection to the idea that even though you certainly are capable of using words that may happen to offend some, they lose all meaning if you use them all the time.Any four-year-old can use profanity. What makes George Carlin so effective is not that he uses profanity, but how he uses it, and effectively, IMO. While he certainly uses it more than someone such as myself would, he does it to make a point. Which is different than the majority of folks are doing when they use the word "gay" in that context.

Why start this post if you are just going to call anybody who disagrees with you "sensitive" and "pussified"?
Why care about what I think? And besides I never called anyone "sensitive" or "pussified", I was using those terms as a generalization of the direction that society has taken. :club:

A bumbling fool? Now that's name calling and that's not allowed because you may hurt someones feelings. Now go stand in the corner and think about what you've said! j/k :-) :club:
