oh man, i know we've had these topics before, about wether or not you would jump into a game above your limits if u knew it was soft and full of donks, well yesterday there was a huge donk sitting by himself at 10/20NL and i was soo tempted to play.My judgment got the best of me though, and i realised its possible for him to run a luckbox train on my ass.so i decided to sign out and take a cold shower. hehe, well the last part i do everyday after being with ron, so that wasnt anything new.Now this woulda took a big chunk out of my BR if i lost my buy-in, would anyone have taken that chance??

I would have, but that's because I'm the best No Limit player on the block, SON!!!!Just kidding, I suck at No Limit. Well, I don't suck, but I ain't that great. I wouldn't have done it. Unless it was no limit holdem, then I would have, because I'm the best No Limit Holdem player on the block, SON!!! Alright, again, not really, I wouldn't do it.

How did you know he was a huge donk? What kind of donk was he? If he was weak/tight, and I didn't have to play big pots with him I would have done it. If he was a maniac I wouldn't have taken the risk. I might have done it, but 2k is half my bankroll so I don't know. Nice restraint though.

thats the thing, I've seen him play anywhere from 1/2 to 10/20 and have him tagged as a donk.except i dont have an awfull lot of info on him. Just that he is very LAG, and seems to have deep pockets. Now myself, when playing heads up can accomodate vs a LAG or TAG, but still.that whole luck portion got to me,and i thikn Vatch is right, a scared player is a dead player

I would have sat for a couple reasons....1)I have confidence in my ability to play for decent stakes-sounds easy, but isnt 2)If I lost 2k or so, my br would take a hit, but I would be able to build it back up(see #1)....I guess the point is I have faith in my game, and the money doesnt scare me.P.S.Good restraint, though...if you have any hesitation about sitting in a game like that, its best just to walk away

plus heads up there is so much variance that it is not worth the risk of playing him. That being said, if i know that I am better than him I would probably play him even at a higher level.

Royal...do you play at Rama?Niagara?Heron? ask yourself if you would do it live...I go to Rama regularly and I will judge what limits I play based on who I see seated there...cards will run as cards run...I will normally play the 5/10 and watch and listen to the action on the 10/20 - 20/40 tables...if things are looking good where I am, I stay...if there is some serious action on a bigger table, I may consider a move...haven't been hurt too bad yet...a few sessions have been difficult but I've had bad runs at 2/5 there as well

I gotta say, overextending is one of the worst things you can do to a healthy bankroll, and there is no more powerful draw to a good player than arrogant scoffing (justified or no) of players we are drooling to liberate stacks from.I did it once. Just once. Built a bankroll, and sat at a seven hi/low game with three such people for 10/20 (this was when I was new to online, built a stack of 800 from 100 in about three weeks give or take).I completely disregarded my own ground rules by getting in that game. I did not after all create a bankroll by playing that way. And they had a good night to boot. I dumped 450 at that table by losing every invested pot I was leading with, early straights to flushes on river, flushes to river boats....the list....Anyway, being unlucky like that or whatever you want to call it...a bad decision making day started with that over extention. I've learned from it.Later,Los

its funny to be around...I once saw as close to a fist fight as you can get there at the 20/40 table...buddy hit runner/runner naked flush agaist a flopped set of K's...the guy bet it all the way and when he hit, he raised, the fella with the set called and the villian slowrolled the flush with his 72...the hero went NUTS!!!! the whole room was silent as this guy blew a vessel...had to be escorted out and the villian grabbed his chips and left...was a Sunday night in July
