If this is the case you will about the same drive to Mobile as you would to Tunica, maybe a little less, but not reall much of an improvement. If they adopt a similar law to Mississippi then they could build a mote around one in a place like B'ham, but thats really speculative and probably years away.
KKsuited 0
dang it, didn't realize it was that far away.
pong1092 0
Your actually talking about a 70 mile difference so thats an hour. But it would be worth it to drive that hour. Ive been to the casinos in Gulfport and Tunica and they dont compare. Tunica you have choices on where to play and there you wouldn't. The games are juicy either place thou. I hope it will make it allow places in Norther Alabama to have casinos. But i doubt it. I am shocked this is actually a possiblity since alabama is as about as conservative as can be even more then Tennessee where i am. We atleast have a lottery and can have 40's. NC was suppose to get poker tables soon but it didnt happen just wait and see.

Seriously though Katrina has done a number on the Gulf coast and since Alabama is not really a rich state to begin with, gambling (as it has in Miss.) can help recusitate the economy. HurricaneKyle 0
pong- I'm a right-wing poker playing nut in Tennessee. But yeah, it'd be way cool if some of this happenned in Northern Alabama.

Was just told by girlfriend whos in Auburn that the dog tracks in alabama already have a few slot machines, so i guess its not as far off as I thought. I know it will never happen here in Tennessee since I got threatened to be arrested for holding a charity poker tourney and being called satanistic for helping a charity by running that sort of activity. uahphysics 0
If this has to come to a vote, then I doubt it will ever pass. People down here in Alabama keep shutting down the potential for a lottery that would generate a good bit of revenue for the state. Alabama is very conservative, but if this happens, it would be absolutely awesome.

They said the same thing about the lottery in GA when I lived there and Im sure they said the same thing in Miss., but when state budgets start swelling and the prospect of raising taxes becomes inevitable gambling becomes less sinful and more sensible. acesfullmike 0
in a dream world for me, i wish Myrtle Beach, SC would get casinos. There already is some of the best golf in the world there, beaches, etc... I think it would be the atlantic city of the southeast. too bad SC is one of the crappiest conservative sucky ass states. i can still dream though.
JayPaav 0
i'll tell you what would be cool, if New York had casinos - like London. that would rock!
JayPaav 0
dont get me wrong, i love the cardrooms here, there is an air of excitement with the whole illegallness and stuff... but a proper casino... real flashy and exclusive where you have to wear a suit and tie - in NYC, that would ****in rock!
