CJHunt 0
The cooler is the nuts when you hold second nuts. KK vs AA pre flop That kinda thing.
CoopDaddy1 0
It's just a term used when it seems as though the cards are set up against you on a particular hand... help with the definition. is "the cooler" only used if you get beat by a case card or is it used for any card that beats you on a draw?i hear a lot of people saying it but i think they use it wrong.what is "the cooler"?thx
case ace 0
the cooler comes from the term a cold deck.A cold deck is when a mechanic has stacked the deck so you get a great hand and still lose, nothing to do with the nuts. The term cold deck is becuase after a few hands everyone touching the cards makes them warm up temp wise. when you bring in a stacked deck that has not been touched, it is colder than cards being played.pokershark.uk def:cold deck - A deck that has been stacked prior to the game and then switched in during the game - usually at the end. The expression means that the deck is cold because it was not in use up until the moment it is switched in. • cooler - Same as cold deck.
case ace 0
The cooler is the nuts when you hold second nuts. KK vs AA pre flop That kinda thing.no, that hand is a cooler because it looks like a stacked deck. Nothing to do with 2nd nuts. see above

Thats a cold deck but not a cooler.Cooler-second nuts at any time in the hand.
wilheldp 0
Perhaps this is why we have overutilization of the word...everybody has their own defintion.
greatwhite 0
I've always seen the cooler as the only hand that beats you. It also seems to be more used in omaha, because the nut vs 2nd nut scenario happens more often.
ziggy587 0
Also....Casinos would have a "bad luck" guy called "the cooler" get involved in games where certain players were really hot and killing the house so that he could turn their luck sour.
BilliardsBoy 0
Cooler has EVERYTHING to do with the nuts.If the board is 2 3 4 5 K, with three hearts out there, and my AK loses to your 7 6, that is not considered the "cooler" hand. Now if the board reads A A A Q J, and I have KK, and you have the A for quads and the nuts, then THAT is a cooler. It is the one hand that could possibly beat you and, therefore, directly means the second nuts against the nuts.BTW, awesome movie too.

He then made a comment about "the miracle" which was him flopping the set. "The spoiler" was having Lazar go runner runner for the flush. He was just upset about how the hand played out. I hate it too, when you suck out on someone, only to have them come back and catch a miracle on you. It just messes with your emotions. First your down because you see that you are crushed. Then you catch up and the adrenaline is pumping and your really pumpled. Then they catch back up and you lose. I would rather just stay behind then have this happen.

Macy at your table in the casino, run as far away as you can as quickly as you can. If you have a pregnant girlfriend, also run very far away, else she may be kicked in the stomach. btlee 0
I've heard it 3 ways.a person who is a "cooler" has bad luck that causes others to run bad when they are around.a hand that is a "cooler" is the ONLY hand that can beat you, or nuts when you hold 2nd.a "cooler" card is one that freezes the action. ie. you have nut straight and a 3 heart hits or the board pairs. dead money 1
dont beleive everything you see in b level canadian movies...that may have been a practice by 1 or 2 casino owners, MAYBE, but was not widespreadActually in the days of the Mafia run casinos, a cooler was commonplace. The mob will try anything to get money.
navybuttons 15
"the cooler" can also be used to describe the red igloo in the corner of the party.if you have the nuts and they get kicked so youre holding the nuts but you almost wish you werent and your buddy says 'run and put em in the cooler'. jklimtsc 0
case ace has it right. Nothing to do with the nuts. Here's a quote from an article by Tom Mcevoy. "Now comes the story of the “cooler” hand. I’m using the word “cooler” figuratively here — cooler is a term used to describe a dishonest situation in which the deck has been preset to deal out several big hands "
