I hit one bad beat, tilt, play outside my limits and proceed to lose my entire roll in about 3 days. Not once. No, not twice, but three times I've done this exact thing. Very dissapointing now that I look back at it.Ona side note, some old guy in a wheelchair lost at least $1200 playing 1/2 NL last week at the casino, before moving back to the slots.Been there. And it's so depressing trying to build my BR up from a couple hundred when I've had over 5K in there twice. Link to post Share on other sites
JBradburn6 0 Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 gambled away and got $20 up to 1k in a week playing $20,30,40, and 60 sitngos/... lost that 1k in a week playing $2,6, and 10 sitngos... now how often do you hear that$1,000 wasted on 2, 6, and 10 dollar sngs? I dont know if i believe that one....My story - after i made 10k online on a big hot streak i went and did some sports betting. Lost a lot of close games and a lot of not so close games. I won some as well, but ended up losing about a 3rd of what i had made.I took the under in the highest scoring college football game in history. Link to post Share on other sites

To this day, I still don't know what was more surprising, taking 2nd place when I really had no clue of what I was doing, or being stupid enough to lose it all playing $500 HU matches. Abbaddabba 0 Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 I have a friend who's bought into a 10k tournament when he went to vegas.Worst part - about 2k of the buy in was money that he owed to me.Several months later, i got my money. Oh yeah, he didnt make pay.He's been in some pretty serious debt from sports betting with bookies. Apparently his escape plan (if he didnt get the money in time) was to hide in my basement for a while. Lucky for him, he managed to make some huge score in a bet he had going, borrowed a bit from his parents and signed up for GA shortly after. Link to post Share on other sites

I cashed out about $1K of it from time to time, but wound up tilting off the rest. I'm feeling gunshy about putting more money online (too cumbersome getting it in or out) so I stick to B&M poker (where I win comfortably, thank-you-very-much). Link to post Share on other sites

mrdannyg 274 Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 My blog isn't half of  my story.   There is so much that hasn't even appeared on my blog and not sure if it ever will.Last year,  I was one pot away from making the Party Poker Million cruise.  By a complete accident,  I registered for the limit qualifier for the cruise and my game is NL but I played it anyway.   Well,  I was freaking hotter than I have ever seen in that game.   It was +EV for me to play 84 o  in that game because the flop came   5 6 7 .  That is how I hot I was.  I was hitting one outers.   I've never been as hot as I was that day.   The defining pot was when I hit a set of queens and some guy chased a gutshot straight draw and was raising and re-raising me and he didn't even have anything but a draw and river killed me.  That river killed my dream.   If I got that hand, I would have been in top 10 of chip stacks and on my way as there were only about 150 players left at that point and top 50 went or something like that.it was not +EV for you to play 84o. you were not one pot away from making the cruise.i'm sure i am hurting the bankroll's of dozens of people, but i really implore you to read, and maybe even understand Theory of Poker, Small Stakes Hold 'em and Harrington's books. Smiddywap 0 Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 I know a guy who knows a guy who may have multiplied his original bankroll by 60 within a couple weeks through MTTs. It's also possible he got cocky despite not knowing how to play the game at the time and lost 25% of that bankroll in one night. He also might have started that night by losing 10% of the bankroll, then staying up until dawn on tilt playing over his head in an attempt to win it back. Link to post Share on other sites
