i dont think you guys can say nick schulman just becuz he one had one good tourney result. I understand he is "killing" the cash games, but his tournament results are not currently good enough to place him near the top just yet.

Well, he is the youngest WPt winner ever. He has over 275K in winnings on Pokerstars alone this year in the tourneys (not even taking into consideration the cash games, and other sites). I think he's already there. I think the only reason you haven't really heard much about him is that he just turned 21.

The truth is. There's a ton of them. Most are incredibly talented in one way or another. Some are better at cash games, some are better at tournaments. But I think there is a lot to be learned from all of the "young guns". Time will tell, who has the stamina to make a "career" out of poker. Online, it seems like ZeeJustin, JJProdigy, and Prahlad are doing quite well. The list could literally go on forever. But due to media exposure. People are only familiar with certain players. Plenty of talent out there though.

yeah ok i forgot about the grinder. But tim phan is definately not a young gun. And tuan le and john phan are two of the biggest cash game suckers in the world so i wouldnt consider them. tuan is one of teh biggest spots in high limit poker. Grinder is a good nl player, average cash game player. I still dont rate him higher than dagostino, cassidy, or keller overall.

I will get discounted as being biased, but I vote Keller, because he gets me published in Card Player, er I mean, because he is a fantastic high limits cash player.Well he does, er I mean, he is.Can't wait for his new web site to go live. Woot.Ray

I say Michael Gracz. Incredible instincts and decisions. His call at this years WSOP of the guys all in with only Ace high. That was awesome!Scott Fischman is up there tho he doesn't play side games, he says he only plays tournaments. JDagsJoe Cassidy are all up there.Who is Phil Ivey? swWe will see who was right in about a decade or so....

For me the best new player to show up this year is Tim Phan. I have seen this guy play at the Commerce Casino and Bicycle Casino in L.A. playing the largest Hold'em games available which is usually 100-200 or 200-400 on weekdays and sometimes higher on weekends. He is also proven in the "Big Game" at the Bellagio. On one of my many trips to Vegas this year, I watch through the glass of "Bobby's Room," as Tim Phan sat in the same table as Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harmen, Chau Giang, Doyle Brunson, and Eli Elierza in 2000-4000 mixed game. What new player you know that is 30 or younger has had the guts and money to sit down against those players in the Big Game? His tournament accomplishments are known as he has made the final table of the Bicycle Casino's Legends of Poker and finished 24th in the WSOP Main Event in the one of the toughest beats I have seen and took that bad beat with class.  Shame on Cardplayer if they do not have a feature story about Tim Phan's rise in the poker world. If he is not in your top five or ten poker players than change it and put this guy on your list.
Please, you are a moron, he did not take a bad beat in the main event. Everyone stop thinking this, it only makes you dumb. If he had whined about it, I would consider him an idiot.

The_Takeover a.k.a Nick Shulman.
Wow. Nicky Schulman. I'm not such an avid follower of tourneys or poker news in general, but this was a shocker. I went to some poker sites and saw Nick's pic and couldn't believe a kid i've known for years is now a millionaire. GO NICKY!!!You don't wanna play Nicky in pool ... glad to see he's doin good, i mean GREAT in poker!Rags

Tim Phan was at my table in the WPT Legends tourney this year. He is one of the best no limit players around. He is super aggressive andit is impossible to put him on a hand. At one point he moved all in on a stone cold bluff against a guy who laid down a big hand, like three hands later he makes the same move, turns over the nuts and busts the guy. When you are in a hand with him you know that you may have to put all your chips in the pot. The one hand we played, I had pocket QQ, raised it up to 8k at the cut off spot, (Blinds were 1k 2k) he was small blind and called. Flop K82 rainbow, he bets like 6k, I raise it 18k, he comes over the top and puts me all in, I had like 45-50k left, he had me 3-1 on chips. I lay the hand down, show him the QQ, he tells me I though you were making a move and shows me K5! He calls 6k raise with k5 then reraises on a weak K. Solid play in book with that chip stack. Ivey played at the next table, same style but busted out quick. Not to brag but I busted Harrington on Day 1, he is super tight like his image on TV and on day 2 I busted Vinny Vihn, he was agressive but made really bad moves. All in all I would way rather have Harrington or Vinny Vinh at my table that Tim Phan. Just my 2 cents!
