Tantalar 0
Just found out about this place from a friend. Some local pool hall has a game with 30 people for $30 buyin ever friday. Now normally I go to play with the kids in my town, but this place sounds awesome, I can't wait to go over and check it out next friday. Anyone know of any good games in CT? WayneBullet 0
A pool hall here in town in South Dakota had the same thing. The boys in blue didn't care at all. The state lottery did. Here is the funny thing, I talked to the owner of the pool hall. The pool hall would have 2 tournaments a night. While waiting to play or after they got knocked out they would play the video lottery. The guy told me that video lottery was up 80% during his tournaments. After 2 months of having these tournaments he gets a letter. It says to stop or he would lose his video lottery license. So, he has no choice but to quit. Of course video lottery goes down again.Who would have thought having gamblers around gambling machines, you could make money. The state of SD hasn't figured that out yet I guess.

brabz 0
There's a semi-loophole that allows 'games of skill' to be played in places like that. That's how card clubs in NYC get away with it. As long as they aren't taking a rake or a cut from the entry fee, it shouldn't be busted immediately. It's a gray area, it all depends on local enforcement.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
thats because gambling is illegal in TN. and as long as the pool hall isn't taking any money there fine ignorance is bliss. I love this logic. Illegal to host gambling. (period)

ricker 0
It's times like these that I thank those judges and lawmakers from back in the day who wanted to keep their backroom poker games legal in California and defined it a game of skill instead of a game of chance, thus leading to the availability of living around the corner from a cardroom...sigh...happy times in good ol' Sunny CA
