iveyfan30 0
Posted by: Dan Chirila, Romania on Feb 07, 2005 - IP=82.77.43.2I do not understand why all the people are bragging about Daniel Negreanu being canadian. He was born in Toronto but his parents are both romanian. So he is romanian. That is why he is such a good poker player. I don't want to offend anyone but romanian people are far clever than the canadians. You can check it looking at the prizes they won at International Olympics for Informatics, Mathematics, Physics and even English international contests.i found this on another poker site...thought it would be good for a laugh.... justblaze 0
romanians are far clever.... right. that makes perfect grammatical sense. very clever, indeed.
jeff_536 3
Unless one is an aboriginal, everyone in North America came from somewhere else. Defining nationality becomes an exercise in where we draw the line.Yes, Daniel's parents were born and raised in Romania, but Daniel was born and raised in Canada and describes himself as Canadian. We're an odd bunch up here in Canada. When we ask each other where we're from, we know immediately that we're talking about background, i.e. Italian, English, Portuguese, etc.But when we're travelling, the same question gets a different and immediate response: Canadian (mostly, i think, to differentiate us from Americans... Daniel is proudly Canadian and Canadians and Romanians, i assume, are proud of him. God forbid if when traveling abroadyou bump into a Canadian and they ask where you are from because if you say America they flip out. "We're America too man."

bearshadoe 0
I for one am glad no one can define me as one nationality. I am a mixture that leaves people wondering what to excpect. I am Irish/Italian/Scottish and Romanian. It tends to bother people cause they excpect me to have a temper, which is something I don't have.

ThePokerGeek 0
So far, Liberians are cool, Turks are wily, and Romanians are great card players......meanwhile, I am a European mutt. In the D&D sense of the universe, i don't get any statistical bonuses.-PokerGeek

bearshadoe 0
Guys if I followed my nationalities I would be one hot tempered little *itch, with a capitol B. Thank goodness I like being who I am , the only time it doesn't work though is at the poker table. But then I like the fact that everyone tends to play with their gaurd down, makes it easier to read them.
jeff_536 3
Yes, the statue of liberty was a gift from france, thanking the americans for helping kick british arse during the American Revolution (which was the french/english war in the rest of the world). And i am a wonderful mix of italian, russian, english, welsh...i'm not exactly sure what stereotype i fall into...Any ideas? NYIsles 0
Speaking of the Statue of Liberty... I didn't previously know this, but the French have a similar Statue of Liberty sitting in the Seine. It's much smaller, though...
