adderall and poker

My brother and lots of friends in college are prescribed to Adderal or some form of Adderal. That is how I come by it. I usually take one when playing in casinos just because the action is slower and I tend to lose focus more.  I decided to try taking it after i saw how it helped me focus on school work. I remember 5 years ago during my senior year od HS when I took it for the first time. I had a AP Gov. test the next day and I took an Adderal at 8pm. I ended up staying up till about 4am and outlines every chapter in my book. Mind you, this was the second semester of my senior year when I was hardly studying for anything. I still use it for school when I have something really important due.  As for it's addictiveness, I can say that yes it is addictive. I have friends who are not prescribed to it but have taken it so often that they feel unable to complete school work without it.  I'd recommmend using it only when necessary. Don't let it get to the point where you feel you won't be able to perform without it.As for getting it, ask your friends. I don't know anything about Canadian drugs but I do remember Spring break in Mexico when people would go to mexican pharmacies and order all kinds of drugs without prescriptions.....but then again, i wouldn't trust Mexican prescription drugs.

To the people that have used it, what dosage did you take? 10/20/30mg?

First of all, nice handle "strippersandblow". I have taken 10s 20s and 30s. The 10s are good and can keep you focused for a decent time period. The 20s are perfect IMO and could keep you concentrating for 8-12 hours. As for 30s, well you might as well just do coke because you will feel like you have just blown a few lines. It all depends on what types of capsules they are. If they are time released, the 30s wouldnt be bad. But if you take a non-time released 30 mg, look out! I say go with the time released. They last longer and you don't feel so cracked out.

I know I'm showing my age and my conservativeness, but I really can't believe so many of you are talking so casually about illegally using a prescription medication that was not prescribed for you. Both Adderall and Modafinil are addictive and have side effects. Please reread Theresa's post. Please think about the message that your are sending DN....that you think so little of this site that you are talking about swiping your roommates medication and openly trying to illegally "obtain" medication. If you have a medical condition that warrants it, please talk to your doctor.

I fully admit to being somewhat prudish compared to the general standard here. I'm just saying, as opposed to most of the teenagers here, I would not be embarrassed if my parents read my posts. Can you say the same ? I think more people should think about the fact that this is not all truly anonymous. Your future spouse, inlaws, parole officer, employer, children, could someday come accross your posts. There can be repurcussions to our actions, either directly from abusing drugs or indirectly with damage to your reputation from admitting it in a public forum.

No, they are not the same thing. Adderall is amphetamine, a prescription stimulant. Focus Factor is an over the counter dietary supplement containing vitamins, minerals, and a proprietary blend (that usually means herbs, but I have not seen their label). You should read up on them yourself to decide if Focus Factor is right for you; you should speak to your doctor about Adderall if you feel you suffer from ADD or narcolepsy.

I said that they should think about the implications of what they admit to. I will add that someone who chooses the screen name StrippersNBlow may be trying to impress people and look cool, but is doing a poor job of both. It seems likely you have no direct knowledge of either. Someone who does cocaine would be foolish to admit it here on a public forum. You don't have to agree with me. You sure don't have t like me. But you have a long way to go to prove my advice is unwise.

I enjoy both, in moderation(along with millions of others) , which is pretty much a key to anything in life which you enjoy that doesn't involve granola. As far as trying to impress people and look cool, margaritaville(unless there actually is such a place, then I am very, very sorry)? Seeing you are a teenager, I'm glad there's a small glimmer of hope you'll loosen up. Make your own choices as best you see fit for you, and best of luck as you reach adulthood. Let other people do the same, no need so save me(us) from ourselves.

I am currently prescribed to adderall, and have previously been prescribed to modafinil (Provigil is the name that I have more commonly seen used). The latter, despite being class IV, would have little appeal to a recreational user. The stimulant effect is very mild, and it lacks entirely adderall's euphoric properties. You would actually be better served with a decent dose of caffeine for both applications. As for adderall, I would recommend a certain amount of caution during initial use. If you are planning on using it recreationally for the first time, you would probably be well-advised to limit yourself to 10mg on a trial basis. At a proper dosage, especially initially, adderall will act as a fairly strong stimulant and induce a state of euphoric interest and concentration. Essentially, it causes your brain to seek out knowledge with far greater ferver than normal (even about subjects you normally find uninteresting), and to to concentrate on a subject of interest with extreme intensity and clarity. However, the effects of adderall on different individuals can vary widely, and taking too much can make the experience far more stressful than enjoyable/useful. Further, you should be very careful to limit the frequency of your recreational use, as amphetamines can obviously be highly addictive. I have also found that tolerance to adderall's effects builds quickly, which can result in increased dosages that could become expensive and/or dangerous to a frequent user. As it relates to poker, I would expect adderall to have a positive effect on the user's abilities, though you might want to question why you feel the urge to add drugs to an activity that, at the stakes I suspect the vast majority of people here play, should be considered fun (rather than work or responsibility). There is also a decent chance that frequently playing poker on adderall will dull the game for you sober, thus ruining an activity you currently find enjoyable. With adderall, as with any drug use, I would strongly advise researching the effects and possible dangers before making a decision. I know many people that have taken adderall recreationally with little or no negative side effects. I have also known, however, a couple people that experienced addiction and some serious consequences thereof. To simply tell interested people not to experiment with drugs is foolish, much like telling teenage boys not to be interested in sex. However, as with sex, there are some very serious risks involved you should know and evaluate before pursuing adderall use.

Where to start......... There are several Margaritavilles. I've been to the ones in Orlando, Key West, and Las Vegas. I guess I'll accept your apology. I am not a teenager. Several posters here have asked for advice here about if they should take Adderall. I have been answering their questions. I have found that difficult to do, without giving them the actual advice they requested. Have you read this whole thread ? Again, I would not be so presumptuous to tell someone exactly what activities they should/should not participate in. I am merely suggesting that bragging about it in a public forum is unwise. I really do stand by that. How can it be a smart thing to do that ?

This is not a new topic, but I just had an experience with it. I’ve been shrugging a bit with my NL game lately, and didn’t get a lot of sleep the night before.  That night a local bar was holding a freeroll I had qualified for, with the top prize; a trip (airfare and hotel included) to any poker tournament with a buy-in up to $5000 (I’m not 21, but they said I could sell it or send someone else). This was one of the biggest tournaments of my life.    I wasn’t feeling great, and I was pretty tiered. I was getting ready to leave when I remembered my roommate takes adderall to study sometimes. I toyed with it for awhile and finally popped 15 milligrams. I’ll be damned if it didn’t give me a demon focus. I played the most intense, perfect poker of my life, and I won the tournament. Then I went home and couldn't sleep for, like, 15 hour. It was the weirdest night of my life, and I’m STILL not sure how I feel about using adderall for poker.    Any thoughts or comments?

Don't play poker until you are 21, don't do drugs.
