Mostly DPC (dallasplayersclub.com) or Third Pair.
Never made the trip to 3rd pair, I get the newsletter though. Played DPC quite a bit. Haven't been in a month or two though. Playing alot online. I was on the points board for a week for the last tourney I played. I'm mostly known as Derek For Real around town or just Derek

folding aces in a cash game is possibly the dumbest thing you could ever do, aces will win 30% of the time if everyone plays the hand, if you think folding aces is correct you are an idiot
Oh boy.....see previous replies please. Unless you too, are censored with me......

That post is obviously a joke and it wasn't a very good one, but it turned out to be good thread. The responses turned out to be pretty funny. I like the "What's Omaha?" part though. LOL. That was pretty funny.I'll give a serious answer too though. There is ONE situation I'd fold Aces. If you're in a satellite tournament and say the top 20 spots get entry into the next event there could be a situation where you should fold aces. If you're somewhere around 5th or something and it's down to 21 people and a player with more chips than you or even close to the same amount as you goes all-in, I think you should fold. You don't really gain anything by winning the hand, but if you get unlucky you lose everything. That's the ONLY time I would fold aces. EVER.

Agreed. Many of the top pros also agree they would fold if they were down to the last 3 or 4 of a major, are so short stacked, doubling or tripling will do no good, and two or more equivelent stacked players move in, where folding will almost guarantee an extra 200,000. I have no problem folding A-A for a quarter million.

I folded AA once. In a satellite where my spot was guaranteed.

I just ran through the poker calculator. I put in 4 hands preflop, AA, J10s, 78s, 55The aces at this point were 50 percent to win with second best being 20 percent. Obviously this thread is a joke, but that is how it comes out with 4 hands

I didn't slog all the way through the post and the OP is probably completely kidding. But the great quote from Doyle Brunson when he was asked if there was ever a situation where he would fold AA pre-flop, he said: "The day I fold aces before the flop is the day I stop playing poker."Well said. Well spoken.

I was at a local B&M and happend to pick up a cardplayer and read an article written by Phil Hellmuth about laying down aces.I've yet to experience this, I guess I'm fortunate my aces usually hold up; Let me just find the article.Ah, here it is:http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a...4576&m_id=65557

This reminds me of my girlfriend playing blackjack. She gets dealt an 11 with a dealer 6 showing and I tell her to double down. She says "no, i don't have a good feeling about it." WTF? A good feeling? If you are gonna play, play right! If you really do play that way, please let me know so I can be there to collect.

are you playing Omaha?  If you are playing hold em, you are an idiot my friend...
What the heck is omaha? Yes it's hold em, what other game do you get aces in? I think espn just say its the best starting hand because they want more suckers for their events. and saying 72 is the worst hand is just rediculous 23 is. Any idiot would know that ace king suited is the best hand because you can make royal flushes with it all the time.
Is this guy serious? I hope not.
I dont think you guys would know sarcasm if it came up behind you, slipped it in, neglected the reach around and added a donkey punch for a touch of class.

this thread is bordering on morton theorum. which basically says after 5 players per hand your ev on aces becomes negative. go to card player and use the odds calc to see when they become unprofitable. or you can read my gutshot article about it.you do have to remember though when 3 or four prople are in the pot altough you win less frequently, you are also getting 3 or 4 to 1 or your money.check out my article too.http://gutshot.com/articles/473.htmlEDIT: The op was NL?if so, no way, you play to the felt in NL. In limit, up front, morton's way warrants a smooth call UTG

Assuming they all call your hefty preflop reraise. If you're in late pos and allow that many to take a flop, you belong on the felt.
