great comment from raymer (espn.com)

Recommended Posts

Joe (Toledo): I am an avid college poker player who uses probably 90% of free time playing poker, either in the occasional live game around camput and primarily on PokerStars. I seem to have a problem, as I frequently make a deposit, build up to up around a 500% increase, and lose it to some fish. Is there something I may be doing wrong? I typically will play $.50-$1 online or $1-2 NL in casinos. I don't think my play changes as my bankroll increases, but maybe I'm wrong. Any tips to keep increasing the bankroll when you get up? Greg Raymer: The biggest problem is that you are a college student spending 90% of your free time on poker. Spend more time on girls. Amen, Fossilman. Amen.

The most interesting comment from the chat:Rob (Los Angeles): Do you watch re-runs on ESPN to find tells in your game and other peoples games that you can't reconize live?SportsNation Greg Raymer: (5:31 PM ET ) No. Unfortunately, because the coverage is so highly edited, you cannot trust that the tells you think you are seeing are of any relevance. For example, I know of hands where they show a closeup of someones face and you think you see a tell. Yet I am 100% sure that that closeup is from an entirely different hand.Never trust TV!

More hilarious stuff from Greg:Dave (St. Louis): Was Tiffany Williamson the worst player ever or was it just me?SportsNation Greg Raymer: (5:37 PM ET ) Not knowing anything about you. I'll bankroll her anytime against you rather than the opposite.

seems like a great guy and a class act all the way.He also wrote that you can find him playing 75/150 Omaha Hi lo, almost primarily.Ironic, considering he made his fortune in hold em. Understandable though.

That's not really ironic. Especially since that is what he played regularly before his big wins. This is irony:
The Virginia Employment Agency, which handles unemployment compensation, announced that they would layoff 400 employees for lack of work because unemployment is so low in the state.
I rest my case.

this is an excellent point. For example, ESPN used redundant footage of David Williams' pondering a call on the last hand of the Main Event last year, when in fact he called instantly thinking his full house was good. They cut to that same profile shot of him with his hand alongside his face.

He only took like 5 seconds to call on the edited version, I doubt they had to cut much/if any film for that.

Good read from a great poker player. Thanks for the link.--RuffRidr
Every time I see Raymer, I am impressed with him. Seems like such a normal guy. Very refreshing! Also, a damn good player in case anyone didn't notice.
