turd ferguson 1
It's just a sign of respect for someone who has done more for the game than anybody else. Before you criticize, maybe you should contribute to something (anything) for the next fifty years and help make it a national phenomenon. Then, I'll listen to you.

elkang 0
Doyle Brunson getting a standing ovation every time he gets knocked out of a tournament is like ___________________________.fill in the blank.this should be fun...standing up and clapping when the Godfather is knocked out of a tournament.when you get ten bracelets and have volumes of poker stories attached to you and have helped shape poker then you can get it too.as long as it is natural, I think it's a great thing. sorry for the people who don't seem to get it. also, it's good TV. Not too many deserve standing ovations, so when he's in one of the 6 or so major televised tourneys he enters (outside of WSOP) a year I think it works well.

Hyaku-Shiki 0
Serious. You think at the Big Game every time Doyle losses 100K and decides to leave they all stand up and clap.Because it isn't a public venue. Regardless, they still respect him very much at the big game. What do you want us to say? "Yeah, the man who is a living legend of poker should never be respectfully cheered for because he's done everything for the game for half a century."

doublemeup 0
Doyle deserves a standing ovation. Doyle just finished 10th. Is that not good enough for a standing ovation for the greatest poker player who ever lived? He deserves it if he goes out first. Nobody knows how many more times we will be able to see Doyle work his tournament magic and everyone appreciates what Doyle has done for the game of poker. Again, this is why he deserves a standing ovation.
