anyone think dn complains too much?

Recommended Posts

Maybe it's just me...I don't know...but in my opinion getting a free shot at one million dollars out of only 120 or less players is a good deal even if there is a bunch of top players in that field. But that's me.Yah, it's just you.It wasn't a free shot. It was part of the prize pool for participating in the Circuit events (which they paid handsomely for). And it's not a good deal when someone promises you something and ends up giving you less. Go over to 2+2 and see what Greg Raymer has to say on this issue.

Does anyone know where the money came from? Is it a true freeroll, or did they take a piece of each ofthe previous events to make the payout for this event? I think this question has a lot to do with it? If ESPN is putting up their money then they can do what they want, but my opinion would change if they took money from previous events.Anyone know?

If they told him that ahead of time, then no he wouldn't have a problem with it. Daniel, Harry and Raymer over at 2+2 say that the problem was that they changed the rules in midstream, in fact, at the last minute. Why some people can't get that through their fat heads is perplexing.Try Again.

But it wasn't like "who plays the most circuit events and doesn't make any money gets to play in the freeroll"..These players have already made a return on their investment. Any money won in an additional free roll is extra. I mean if Harrah's can't put who they want in their freeroll then there just shouldn't be one and then everyone gets no shot at any additional money...I just don't see the big deal...and that's just my opinion on it...

calling the TOC a freeroll is Bullsh!t. It's not like the casino owners post that money to give something back to the players, clearly they take that money from their earnings (either the extensive amount that ESPN pays them to televise it or the buyin from other events). They're out to make money and I'm sure that holding the TOC helps them do that. It would be like the WSOP changing the total amount they payout in the main event by 2% after everyone had bought in. The 2% in particular isn't a huge huge deal, but fukcing with the prize pool is... It's a joke that they can do this.

I do not think DN is complaining as much as letting people(harrah's , espn, &the director of the WSOhe) know he is sick of being lied to. Harry D tried a letter writing campaign and was blown off. It seems other pro's feel lied as well (see below).Raymers thoughts from 2+2 (link at bottom)Folks, the point here is simple. Please do not continue to promise us one thing, and then do something else. Even here where it is not a critical change, we are not happy that you are again promising us X and then delivering Y.Oh, and to all of you who posted that this change was no big deal, or such a small thing that it shouldn't matter, please remind me of this fact the next time we meet in person. I'd like to take your wallet, remove $500, and then return it, and see if it's still a minor issue not worth talking about.Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)Complaint or legitimate question?http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthre...rue#Post3878939

No progress ever comes out of complacency. I applaud Daniel's statement. One day there will be a Professional Poker Player's Association (PPPA) to promote the interests of poker players both on and off the felt....to ensure that the rights of poker players are protected, and that everything possible is being done to help players maximize their opportunities and achieve their goals on and off the felt. The TOC move was sleazy, and is an insult to a profession that still has a ways to go. While it might seem like a small indulgence to let three of the greatest WSOP champions to play a "qualifying" event, the repercussions of that move hurt poker in more ways than one.I support Daniel's stance.

I really liked DN when he first came into the poker spotlight,  that is why i came to this site in fact,  His blogs were very interesting and he seemed like a great guy.  Lately however he is always censored about something.  For example,The tournament blind structure does not work well with his post flop play style , so he calls it a horrible structure.   Just because it doesn't fit your style of play doesn't make it bad.The tournament room is too cold so DN could not play good...  LOL come on  put on a jacket?  Most poker rooms are on the cool side.  Maybe other players are always too hot but they don't complain. The TOC  is lying to the players....  FREE PRIZE POOL....   The people who put on the FREE tourney wanted to get some more attention to the tourney so they added the 3 players with the most WSOP braclets ever.  I can't believe someone could complain about this?  Especially someone who is a pro player..  the reason you are able to get endorsment deals and the reason you get paid to play poker on TV is because of the way tourney directors make the public want to watch.LIKE ADDING 3 EXTRA BIG NAME PLAYERS TO A TOURNEY.Im sure all you guys will go off on this post..  but look at this with a little logic.
Is anyone tired of fools like you intentionally trying to get under Daniel's skin for no reason at all? Quick moving blind structurs suck if you are a skilled player, otherwise its two card move all in poker. I'd complain, and have complained about this myselfThe TOC did lie to the players. Its fact. Its a free prize pool, however, as Daniel made quite obvious is that the players who payed the 10 k and qualified were doing so having been promised something that later turned out to be a lie. If you paid 10k for something under certain conditions and then afterwards those conditions were changed, wouldn't you be pissed off and lied to?

Becoming a celebrity (Professional Poker Player) comes with some downsides. One is jealousy and the other is getting scrutinized for every other statement you make. DN was just stating his belief and now there are some people who are disagreeing with him. That is fine, but dont attack his character. Until you walk a mile in his shoes, you should not judge him. We all value his opnion in this Forum, right or wrong. We may disagree with what he says, but we should not judge him. At least he has the balls to say what he believes, especially when he knows we are all listening.God Bless
