I have no clue about the whole relationship thing, but if there is a mediocre looking girl who plays poker, i find that way sexier than a great looking girl who doesn't play poker.....weird.
wow dude, that is ridiculous! poker is definately not the be all and end all of life...or girls!

Dont teach your wife to play poker, it's - EV. I get less online time to play and make money because she has to play her $ 5 SNG's and get EQUAL time on the computer. Take my advice.

Do you have a friendly home-game? I never would've thought that poker night works as a date, but I've now seen 2 consecutive weeks of evidence that it does.
A casino run worked well as part of my fifth year anniversary with the wife.Similar hobbys (especially one that makes you money) is +EV for marriages.Unless you want the Seinfield bit with Kramer "how was your day" relationship.

My girlfriend and myself often go to the casino and play online at the same time. She is way more serious about it than I am, I like to have fun at the table and she is all business. However we never play at the same table, did that once and ended up in a semi-fight at the end of the night. She claimed I did a donkey move and I just laughed.

I'm happy to say that my girlfriend not only supports my online poker playing, but also took me to Vegas this past may for my birthday, and plays in my home games, and sometimes at the casino with me.Is she a great player? No - but she doesn't really lose much money. And just being able to vent a bit when my 'aces get cracked' or 'my set falls to a higher set', and have her understand and just nod, is priceless.Dev

I know about 100 poker players locally. I would say that out of all of the players I know, 10-15 percent are women.4 of the women take poker very seriously, including me. Granted, 2 of us are novices at the game (playing less than 3 years) but we are dedicated to learning.Out of the men, I am thinking there is somewhere between 6-10 that take the game very serious. There are some good players, but for the most part it is getting together with the guys and blowing off some steam. Since poker primarily attracts men to the activity, I find that the women who play often take the game very serious. I really enjoy the company of men and I have lots of men who are good friends but sometimes the make banter is a little much. A woman has to be serious about the game if she is going to hear every poor taste jokes and long sports stories.
