The format for entry into the TOC was stated clearly, but once again the they lost credibility when they didn't stick to what they said. Originally, they said that the top 20 qualifiers from the five different spots for the WSOP circuit events would qualify, as well as the final table from the main event. That's it. Several times they said they WOULD not allow ANYONE in if they didn't qualify. The players believed it, and many of them went to the various spots trying to qualify for the event. Then, not surprisingly they broke their word once again, and added three players to the list: Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Phil Hellmuth, none of which qualified. Had they stipulated this BEFORE everyone put their money into the circuit events, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it since it is added money. Yet, when you STATE that only qualifers get in, and then turn that into a lie, you lose credibility with the poker players. Poker players are not stupid. How is it fair that a guy who qualified should now have to also face three good players in the tournament that DIDN'T qualify? I can totally understand their reasoning for wanting to have those players in the event, but they should have just said so from the beginning. Telling the players that only 109 players will be eligible to play, then just adding three more, is unfair to the "little guy" who qualified for a chance at the big money.

Daniel, you're absolutely right. Its completely unfair to allow these guys in the tournament. You have a lot of "little guys" that spent blew their money for no reason because of this. If they're going to let Doyle, Johnny, and Phil in the tournament then why don't you just let in last year's final table and state this before the tournament. That would be much more fair. This really sucks that you can't be in it Daniel.

if anyone is still not convinced that adding these three top pros to the tourney was wrong (those who aren't convinced by the equity argument), try to think of it on a personal level.doyle, chan, hellmuth did not qualify for the event, but were let into it nonetheless. now, imagine getting busted in the tourney by any of these three players. you were knocked out of the tournament via a situation that would not have existed had Harrah's adhered to the rules. theoretically, you could have won the tournament had these players not been given exemptions.it's just not right.
