Stylin_Fish 0
Hahha, go Mike!!!!Date / Time: 2005-11-06 15:55:00 Title: Matusow Knocks Out an Unknown in a Crazy Hand; Kenna James Eliminated Log: Mike Matusow raises to $600, and an unknown player in the small blind reraises to $2,500. Matusow reraises all in, and the unknown player calls all in for about $8,000 more. Waiting to see some premium hands? Well, keep waiting. Matusow showed Q-7, and the unknown showed A-8. The flop came K-8-x, giving the unknown player a solid lead. But Matusow caught a runner-runner nine-high straight, and busted his opponent. A few hands later, Kenna James raised with K-J, and he was called by Matusow's K-9. The flop came J-9-9, and Kenna James was eliminated by Matusow's trip nines. Apparently, the fifth life of Kenna James was the final one. When it's all said and done, Mike Matusow is sitting on roughly $40,000 in chips.

puros 0
Of course Doyle, Johnny, and Phil would be there. They are icons to the tournament. It would be like no Jack at the masters. Also Phil is going to Win it ALL!

doublemeup 0
The format for entry into the TOC was stated clearly, but once again the they lost credibility when they didn't stick to what they said. Originally, they said that the top 20 qualifiers from the five different spots for the WSOP circuit events would qualify, as well as the final table from the main event. That's it. Several times they said they WOULD not allow ANYONE in if they didn't qualify. The players believed it, and many of them went to the various spots trying to qualify for the event. Then, not surprisingly they broke their word once again, and added three players to the list: Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Phil Hellmuth, none of which qualified. Had they stipulated this BEFORE everyone put their money into the circuit events, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it since it is added money. Yet, when you STATE that only qualifers get in, and then turn that into a lie, you lose credibility with the poker players. Poker players are not stupid. How is it fair that a guy who qualified should now have to also face three good players in the tournament that DIDN'T qualify? I can totally understand their reasoning for wanting to have those players in the event, but they should have just said so from the beginning. Telling the players that only 109 players will be eligible to play, then just adding three more, is unfair to the "little guy" who qualified for a chance at the big money.Daniel, you're absolutely right. Its completely unfair to allow these guys in the tournament. You have a lot of "little guys" that spent blew their money for no reason because of this. If they're going to let Doyle, Johnny, and Phil in the tournament then why don't you just let in last year's final table and state this before the tournament. That would be much more fair. This really sucks that you can't be in it Daniel.

WHAT A MEAN censored!!!!!!!!Seriously though, it isn't his fault they let him in. What is he supposed to do?? It's a poker tournament. Its not Doyle's fault but he shouldn't be able to get when Daniel and other people don't get in either. Why didn't they just invite everyone from the big game? Then again most of them wouldn't show.
gatortom64 1
Without warning, a loud warning siren goes off in the tournament room, followed by bright strobe lights staggered along the walls -- the fire alarm was going off. The players barely acknowledged it as they continued playing, although a few raised their heads or laughed about it. The siren was immediately followed by a pre-recorded announcement saying the cause of the alarm was being investigated.

I know DN might be bitter for not being invited, and I Understand that, but still, DN isn't quite on Brunson's level in terms of being a legend, so, whatever. It is their tournament, it is Doyle Brunson, leave it alone.

Chiggleslap 0
if anyone is still not convinced that adding these three top pros to the tourney was wrong (those who aren't convinced by the equity argument), try to think of it on a personal level.doyle, chan, hellmuth did not qualify for the event, but were let into it nonetheless. now, imagine getting busted in the tourney by any of these three players. you were knocked out of the tournament via a situation that would not have existed had Harrah's adhered to the rules. theoretically, you could have won the tournament had these players not been given exemptions.it's just not right. TheWynn 0
This is how the players qualify for the WSOP TOC: http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/qualifiers.asp.It should be explain itself. And yes, if the chip count is still accurate Phil Hellmuth is still in first. Which should make for some good TV, if he stays in the tournament.
Guest XXEddie
I love card playerWith the board showing 7c-5s-3s-3c on the turn, Eric Cloutier moves all in for $5,450. He's called by the player in seat 3, who holds pocket deuces. Cloutier shows 6-4 -- he flopped a seven-high straight. The other player is drawing dead, and the meaningless river card is the Qd. Eric Cloutier doubles up to about $14,000 in chipsyep.dead.because he cant win with a 2 or
