doublemeup 0
Phil Helmuth will be in the top five guaranteed. He is do for a BIG Win. He will be playing top notch tourny players which he is great at. So love him or hate him, Phil will be there. PHIL H. for president.Remember last year's reaction to finishing second? Man, i want him to make another final table. Hes entertaining. Can you imagine if he went out on the bubble again this year? They should have the police on standby.

scottyno 0
i also think it might be interesting if Dannenman and Lederer end up at the same table, since Howard has now seen Dannenmans antics with the cell phone
Bacon 0
Hey guys,Yes this is my first post but I have been lurking daily for a good year or so, I guess that shows how interesting I found a majority of the posts in the general forum .Anyway, I might have missed it somewhere on here but is there a specific reason why Daniel is not playing the Tournament Of Champions tourney? Sure he has been off the radar results-wise lately but as a tv-network I would jump all over him based on his high profileLooking forward to that first post flaming to begin! ITS RIGGED! man if theres not at least a couple of top pros at the final table, im gonna be really mad. I can see it now, its gonna be a table full of Doug Lee's. Bacon 0
This how cardplayer put it:Nearly 120 players were invited to the event, including all the players who made it to the final table in this year's WSOP main event. The top finishers in five of this year’s WSOP Circuit events and several professionals, including Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Phil Hellmuth, will play in the event.Daniel being a high-profile professional I can state a case for having him in but I guess that is too late now after all .Should be a lot of good tv looking at the guys who are actually playing. blueodum 0
From the WSOP coverage I've seen so far, there was nothing I found more disgusting that Dannenman boasting about bluffing out Lederer with 8-6 while talking to someone on his cell phone. Totally totally amateurish and undignified.

DanielNegreanu 141
The format for entry into the TOC was stated clearly, but once again the they lost credibility when they didn't stick to what they said. Originally, they said that the top 20 qualifiers from the five different spots for the WSOP circuit events would qualify, as well as the final table from the main event. That's it. Several times they said they WOULD not allow ANYONE in if they didn't qualify. The players believed it, and many of them went to the various spots trying to qualify for the event. Then, not surprisingly they broke their word once again, and added three players to the list: Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Phil Hellmuth, none of which qualified. Had they stipulated this BEFORE everyone put their money into the circuit events, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it since it is added money. Yet, when you STATE that only qualifers get in, and then turn that into a lie, you lose credibility with the poker players. Poker players are not stupid. How is it fair that a guy who qualified should now have to also face three good players in the tournament that DIDN'T qualify? I can totally understand their reasoning for wanting to have those players in the event, but they should have just said so from the beginning. Telling the players that only 109 players will be eligible to play, then just adding three more, is unfair to the "little guy" who qualified for a chance at the big money. scottyno 0
100 Circuit qualifiers+ 9 ME final tableists, +3 special invites, yet they say there are 114 people in, who are the other 2?

In any sport or contest one of the most important things is for people to know that the rules apply equally to everyone. We understand why they want those people in the tournament. Its the same reason that the networks want the Yankees in the World Series or the Lakers in the finals. But if they dont qualify, they dont qualify. The fans need to believe that the competition is fair and real.Sure this may seem harmless now, but they are really opening a padora's box with this. The next thing you know someone will accuse them of fixing the competition solely to generate TV ratings. You dont want that to happen.
