how to play short handed in a tournament?

Recommended Posts

i was just wondering how much you loosen up on your normal starting hands when it gets down to about 4 or 5 handed rather then a full limit ring game. I seem to have trouble loosening up enough or maybe im just not hitting the cards lately, either way im just interested on what you guys have to say.

I would recommend loosening up a little bit but not too much. It always depends on the situation and the players at your table but, generally, you still need good cards.Sometimes you can get players to lay down most of the time and you can get away with raising almost every hand. More often, however, other players will start playing very loose, too, and you can catch them with a big hand when they're gambling too much.

One principle is to play as if it were Omaha high - as there will often be two players in a pot a low-only draw is a poor hand pre-flop.
That's why you play 2 way hands. Playing one way only hands are a sure way to lose money.
