this is why people think poker is rigged...

Recommended Posts

i think you're misreading what the program actually does. its just more of a poker aid type thing....nothing really "rigged" about it. partypoker and other gaming clients prohibit the use of those kinda programs like pokertracker, etc...that program seems pretty cheesy anyways.

Collusion is perfectly okay by all poker rooms. They are rigged anyway, so why not jump into it and make your millions.
Honestly, what happened to you?

Nothing really.Except that another player might become suspicious and inform admin. They might look at your hand histories and possibly decide to confiscate your accounts. Poker Stars has done this, but other sites seem to be far too lenient.

Is it any different from using MSN or something similar? I dont see a difference.
Yes. Using this will remove all doubt that you are colluding. Using MSN only raises the possibility that you are colluding. I suppose if you are in a hurry to get banned this is a great product.

forgive my ignorance, as I'm no techie (and have never considered cheating), but what DOES stop someone from using MSN or whatever to collude with another player?
#1: Pokertracker is not banned by any major site.#2: How will they know if you're colluding via msn? Play at Party Poker? Their client takes a tally of all the software processes running on your machine every few minutes, checks this against a list of known cheating tools, and makes a report back to the server if anything is found. They also take intermittant screenshots if suspicious software is running to verify later if foul play is suspected.Does msn qualify as suspicious software? If you're talking with someone, at an IP that is also logged into the partypoker server it does.

When players claim a site is rigged, they are suggesting that the poker site itself is not dealing a fair game, but is instead scripting events in order to increase pots and increase rake. I don't know of any significant evidence that any site is doing this. What you are pointing to is a site that enables collusion, which isn't a "game being rigged" IMHO, but is just plain "players cheating."Being concerned over players colluding and cheating is a longtime concern with live poker also. If this is a major worry of yours, I suggest playing on sites known to chase this down such as Party Poker and Poker Stars. If you ever notice a hand being played where the situation seems odd, e-mail the HH into support. An example might be two players raising like mad to force the third guy out of the pot. Then once third guy folds, one of the raisers folds on the river to a single bet in a huge pot. Support at sites that investigate this can look at a player's history and identify how often he's played with that other player, etc. and act accordingly.

The other obvious concern I'd have using something like this program is who else is getting sent my hole cards? The owners of this site could be selling you something that also gives them your cards. Then they just log onto your table and...well you know the rest.I've also reported this product to the Poker sites.

Why? Because I think colluders are the scum of the earth and should be banned? Because I don’t like seeing people duped out of their money for illegal products? Because you just wasted $14.95 :club: I agree that banning instant messenger software will never happen. But that isn’t necessary. Having an instant messenger running is only a red flag. So is usually playing with the same person, suspicious types of playing, things like that. The more red flags you have they more likely you will be banned. It’s similar to a B/M casino kicking out card counters. They don’t have to prove he did anything wrong, they just have so suspect it. Since it’s a private establishment they just ask him to leave and not return. Same thing with a poker site. If you act in a manner that looks like collusion they will ban you. There will always be an ongoing battle between cheaters and the sites. There is no way to ban 100% of the cheaters, just reduce it to a manageable level.
