So you minimum raised to 60 and allowed for the BB to see a very cheap flop with your KK. I love it when people minimum raise with a monster holding and then wonder where they went wrong and what someone with an 8/2 off is calling for.

You should have made a bigger raise pre-flop - a mini raise is nothing but a pot sweetener - and usually a bad idea. With that flop I would have made a bigger overbet on the flop, to eliminate calls and/or a semi-bluff check-raise on a straight or flush draw.

To the OP. I can only imagine what goes on in your mind. Why are you even asking if you should be calling here?..you need to ask how to play holdem. especially SnG style holdem. min raise?. WTF was that all about?.

Maybe I'm stupid, but you were a huge favorite pre-flop, and you got your money in with the best hand. You happened to get outdrawn on the turn. Could have been a huge payoff, if he didn't hit. You can't blame him for calling the $60 raise, although Joker was an idiot to go all in on that draw. But then again, I'm new here, so I might not know what I'm talking about.

OP-How long have you been playing poker? If you have been playing for a long time...quit right now, don't look back.If for not very long...you have no business being in a 50$ SnG. If you don't understand how badly you misplayed one of the easiest hands to play in Hold 'Em, you are just going to be another donator to the game. Post in strat, read in strat, and pick up a few poker books, and good luck.

Minimun raises are inexcusable. Every time I see someone do this i'm thinking "donkey". I understand doing it headsup when the blinds are high. But in a 5-handed table it will accomplish nothing except building a big pot you won't be able to get away from. Most people with Ax will call that raise, especially the blinds, then what are you going to do when an A flops?

Are we at all sure this was actually a 50$ SnG? Plus it was a turbo who plays a turbo for 50$ anyways.I play on Prima so i cant be the one to say that ultimate bet dont have a plethera of 50$ turbo SnG's but Prima most certainly dont have any to my Knowledge.

I want to ask the OP a question, seriously. What is your exact thinking when you raise in NL from 30 to 60? That's really the first question you need to ask yourself, if you quit doing this the rest on the hand plays out differently. Is this typical play of $50 SNG's?

KK is only a very slight favorite preflop against three callers. To give you an idea, if the three calling hands are A10, 66, and QJ while KK dominates any ONE of these hands (47% to 22%, 19%, and 12% respectively) it is an underdog against ALL THREE of them (slightly less than 50%). I used to try to limp or make a min raise with QQ, KK, AA all the time to keep people in the hand, but I've realized that it is really stupid, because you often let someone catch a hand where you have no idea where you are at and you have a hand that is very difficult to lay down.**percentages courtesy of the poker odds calculator at cardplayer.com

I hate when people just double raise, and I also hate when people bet $30 into a $1200 pot. If I'm raising, I'll always raise 3x the blind, no matter the cards I'm holding. That's it. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.

The only time where min raising is allowed is usually in the late stages of a Multi-table Tournament. This is usually because the blinds are so high in relation to stack size that players will allow steals with min raises. Other than this, never min raise. People really try to get SO much value out of these hands that they forget to stop giving people the correct odds to play terrible hands. I for one will always call this bet with these level blinds, with any hand, the implied odds (as you proved) give you so much value if you hit a miracle.

You are from Ithica, NY. If I am correct, is that where Turning Stone is located?

Okay I figured I would get flamed for my preflop raise, and to be honest I never raise the minimum. I did so in this case, because every time I limped or raised 3x the BB, the dude to my right would go all in or make a ridiculous re-raise. I was really hoping that someone at the table would make a big reraise preflop so I could go all in over top and isolate them. And yes if I have been playing for close to 2 years with pretty good success at $50 turbo sngos, which there are a plethora of on UB.....I appreciate the input.....but I was more or less hoping to get advice on my call on the flop, not my bad play for the minimum raise.

i love when i'm in the bb in mtt's with a decent stack and everyone is min raising and with the antes i'm getting almost 3-1 on a call. I play everything from that spot.

that actually does make the situation alot different you should have said the in original post. that being said he made ridiculous raise everytime you limped or made it 3x maybe he was smarter than you thought and was wary of the min raise. Regardless that does change things a little bit
