I can tell you from experience playing ONLINE THAT i see many more flushes than str8s. This is because pre flop people will much more often with suited cards than connected cards. I am not kidding when i say that i think that a str8 should beat a flush. Any thoughts on this?

it is harder to get a flush than a straight, if you think about it it makes sense.
You are correct. My point is that online players will call with suited cards pre flop much more than connecting cards hoping to hit the flush. If you play online you will see many more flushes than str8s.

There are more flushes seen because people will play any two suited and habitually get all thier chips in with just a flush draw vs any other type of draw. Saying that should affect the value of the hand is just stupid. I see people showdown A way more than K, does that mean Ks should be the higher card?

If we made a str8 beat a flush people would just start playing connected cards more...or, even more likely, everyone would get really confused and stop playing on whatever site actually did that.

Having 4 to the straight (gutshot) should give you a quarter of the pot. If you're open ended, then you should get half the pot. If you're open ended with a flush draw, then you should get the entire pot.

Except of course that then unsuited connectors would go up in value, and people would chase their straight draws more often on 3 and 4 to a flush boards. And people would chase their flush draws less often on 3 and 4 to a straight boards. So you'd see more straights, and then complain that straights are more common and so why the heck do they beat flushes...

i think a 6 card straight should beat a flush.5 card straights should beat flushes that don't have an ace in them.aces should beat 2pair but not trips.:club:
