mbreon 0
I know that everyone has a different opinion on this topic but in my mind, Todd Brunson has to be the most underated player in the game. You could also make a good arguement for Chip Reese but i'll stick with Todd. He plays in the highest cash games in the world and has claimed to win more than 20 million in those games not to mention that despite not playing in too many tournaments, hes already won a WSOP bracelet this year. He doesn't get any respects seeing he has a dad named...uh..i forgot. Plus, he doesn't play in enough tournaments for the general public to see him at a final table. People probably have more respect Glenn Hughes who made the WSOP final table last year. Tell me who you think is the most underated player in the game.Chip Reese, underrated? In all likelihood he is one of the 3 most respected players in the world. Hard to call that underrated.
PhilHellmuth 0
LMFAOchip reese, todd brunson, and ted forrest are underated the day i start farting hundred dollar bills. the only people who 'underate' the aforementioned are people whose opinions do not matter. there are many people in europe [dave colclough] and online [erik] that could give these guys a run for their money. btw phil hellmuth is definitely the most underated player in the world. joeltebbutt 0
Yep Chip Reese is def. under-rated. Only in the poker hall of fame and considered the best all round player of all time.
the red bull 0
In a cardplayer magazine a few issues back, they had the all-time bracelet winners, and someone named Hilbert Shirey had 3. Any Idea who he is? He was once mentioned in Josh Arieh's blog as being a big golf gambler, and I'm sure he is probably up there as one of the more underrrated players. He has made it to the Main Event final table as well, back in `91 (placed 7th). Looks like he is still playing now as well, as he won a $3000 PLO tourney at the 5 Diamond World Poker Classic last year.
BigDMcGee 3,354
Pick a top south east asian player, they are all underrated. Chau xiang may be the best player in the world, and john junada is one the top 5 tourniment players in the world. because for many asian players, english is their second language, so they aren't as marketable. But i'd take Chau over just aboet every player in the world.

By the way, before this year, did you know anything about Todd Brunson except that he played some cash games with his dad? For everyone who says that hes not close to underated, think of this. What if he never appeared on Poker Superstars this year or made a WSOP final table. Would you really have that much respect for him? He would be like Joe Sebok; hes either a very good player like his father or a bad player because hes just starting to learn the game.

scottyno 0
if you read "the professor the banker the suicide king" then you knew all about todd brunson before the wsop, great book, everyone that enjoys poker should read itbtw, watching players on poker superstars isnt probably very likely to give someone more respect for a player, becuase you see them pushing in with junk hands a lot due to the high blind strcture

You would know how good he is because you play with him in the biggest cash games in the world. You would know that hes won over 20 million in those games but still doesn't have any kinda respect in the poker world. What a silly question.

How about David Williams for example or John Murphy? They're household names because they got lucky to do well in the Main Event last year.
scottyno 0
main event is different though, because you didn't see williams or murphy pushing with a junk hand all the time and getting caughtits the structure of poker superstars 2 (plus the fact that to some of them they're playing for chump change, todd brunson regularly plays 400-800 or higher, how much do you think he cares about a 40k buy in) that leads to the all ins with weak hands, which could give members of the general public, who dont understand that the structure dictates this play, the impression that these players arent very good

Those people who simply watch the WSOP on ESPN won't know who these guys are but it doesn't mean that they're underrated.
