.5-1 omaha. 6 people limp for a buck. I have 6s7h8h8s two suited in the SB and complete. BB checks.Flop is 10d 2d 8cI bet the pot, $8. BB Calls. Folds around to the button who has 160. He reraises the pot to 40. 32 back to me. I have 120 in front of me and BB has 95. I know the button is a good player and the BB I have no idea.What do I do? My thinking is that he could only raise me with a set of 10s or Jd 9d. Thoughts?

I dont think you can call there.... maybe check the flop and let someone else do the betting. I dont know though, I may be wrong

That sounds about right to me Petoria. You have to assume you are pretty well beat here. Best case scenario, he has Jd9d and your full house outs are intact, but if he has top set, you are drawing to 1 card.ZachEDIT -I'm no Omaha expert, but I don't mind the bet. You could pick up the pot right there, and force draws to pay to play, and if you get raised, it seems to be an easy fold, you know where you are at.

I am confused as to the Jd9d read. Perhaps he has a flush draw, and/or a straight draw, but to say he has those two cards in particular seems far fetched. :? IMO - unless you have a lot of info on your opponents, knowing their tendencies, I do not believe you should be betting on that flop. You can easily call a pot-sized bet there with your hand, but do not bet it. You want to see another card, as cheaply as possible. 8)

Sorry to post about this so late.... I check this site every week or so and catch up.I think I have to put out a bet there to try to take the pot. A cold call is gonna be a set of 2s or a draw. A raise in this situation can only be a set of 10s or a monster draw. I let it go to any raise and proceed cautiously if any draws hit. I want the pot on the flop and basically give up if I don't make it. If the guy is crazy enough to re-pop it in late position with a set of 2s, then so be it, I am still getting out of the way. He will do it again later when I have a monster.I don't understand at all the check/fold suggestion with second set on a no str8 no flush board. I gotta stab at it once. Disagree?

I'd bet the pot on the flop. A raise at this level probably means top set. I don't think that Jd 9d is as likely as something like Q J 10 9 or J 10 9 8, or some other type of big wrap, possibly with a flush draw. It didn't have to be specifically a straight flush draw, it could be a wrap straight draw and a flush draw. You'd be in much tougher shape then.

I can see both sides of it, good chance that you dont have the best hand, but I dont really like checking to give everyone a free card. Feeler bet, if you get raised which you did then you have to let it go. If your dont want to play that way then I would tighten up and not play pocket pairs under 10 or so. Too easy to flop a set and not have it be top set and be put into a difficult position. You were double suited which is good but not a nut draw which also puts you into a bad position. I am still somewhat new to omaha, I think I play a little too tight sometimes.
