first major downswing

Recommended Posts

Take up drinking. There's gonna be a lot more where that came from.Seriously though, downswings happen. They're a part of life unfortunately. There are a couple things you can do when your on a downswing- either you can take a break for a little while, study up on your game, fix leaks, get rest, etc.. Or, if you feel confident that you can beat the game, you can try to just play more hands and work through the variance.Hope this helps a bit.

I lost 900 yesterday...about double my biggest losing day...if it was through poor play i'd be upset, but i just kept recieving beat after beat after beat and I played pretty well...so is the life of NL.I usually come back strong the next day and just play tight until you win some nice hands and get your confidence back up.

It never hurts to take some time off if you are discouraged. I'm the type of person who will just keep playing because I know that I can play better. Keep your head up and concentrate on playing your game. If playing your game is what is getting you in trouble, take some time off. Good luck...

i guess i'm kind of lucky....i lost 10 straight coinflips yesterday, and lost sngs/tourneys on the river from a 2 outer, 3 outer, and a couple of 5&6 outers, plus losing a couple of tourneys TPTK vs set and KK vs AA, and i only ended up -220.

i went on a big downswing last week. i've taken a week off, read up some more on SSHE and played for just pts at UB. i'll start playing again real money tomorrow and i'll try and play my game and see how it goes. i'd say take some time off...a week should suffice...then back to grinding away.

I just got out of a 225BB downswing, in the last three weeks, you cant call it a real downswing until you're over 150 BB, I have about 4 or 5 a year and they SUCK!!!
