cheap thieves (2-3) vs. shoot loose (2-3) oct 14th

Recommended Posts

It's been a very bizarre start to the AHL season. The Rug Rats and Mustangs are leading the EAST whle power houses Ghosts of Elvis, Shoot Loose, and Cheap Thieves are all under .500 in the Eddie Shack Conference. In fact, at 2-3 the Thieves are hanging on to the 4th and final playoff spot in the conference. Historically, the Rats and Mustangs have been bottom feeders in the league for years, both picked again this year to finish 3rd and 4th in the division. Tonight, the Thiieves will see both Raffi Torres and Corey Pery play for the big club for the first time this season. Torres saw action with the club in 03-04, but was demoted back to the farm at the start of this season. With Torres' fast start, though, GM Negreanu decided to call him up this season along with Perry. Joining those two will be another player that was drafted by the Thieves, Nikolai Antropov who has shown flashes early this season. Add the first ever call up by the team, Simon Gagne, and you have four forwards playing tonight that came to the team through the AHL entry draft.Cheap ThievesFORWARDSJoe Sakic, COL. Yes, but all of Shoot Loose's forwards could put up a 3 point night, save Ruutu.Although I do have to agree with you Monkey. Dressing a full lineup is +EV. Daniel should win.
Perhaps, but the chance of Forberg doing it without Gagne getting points is slim. As is the chance of Palffy doing it without Malone getting points. The -4 for no goalies really is a killer.

LMAO!I do agree with this poster though, I've never thought much of antropov, so much hype and potential but hes soft and gutless. I'd try to pawn him off on someone else in your league, I'd take very little for him lol.

I dunno, man... despite seeing a LOT of first line time and PP time, Nik the Stick is tied for 9th in scoring on the Leafs w/ 3 points, only 1 point ahead of such offensive forces as Tie Domi and Ken Klee. Time to give up the ghost on Nik... not that Pat Quinn ever will. The more Leaf fans boo Antropov, the more stubborn the Penquin gets.... And Ryan Malone is another one that maybe you might want to stop riding. Despite being second only to Sergei Gonchar in ice time, and playing on the first line and PP, Malone is tied for 8th in scoring on the penguins, with every other forward on the first three lines ahead of him. It's only a matter of time until Eddie O sits Malone down....

Antropov didn't do anything tonight, but still, he is contributing enough to merit the odd start on my team. Tonight was a wild one, but luckily I was on the right end of it!
