9 10 bad fold?

Recommended Posts

Just got knocked out of a satellite on the bubble, losing sleep over one hand, wondering if you guys think I made a bad fold.5 players left, LHE tourney. I'm 2nd or 3rd in chips, pretty even field, blinds are getting dangerous at 200 - 400 (only a 20 person satellite). I'm SB with 9 :club: 10 :D . Folds to player before button (CO?). He has played tight so far (hasn't raised yet preflop), and makes a raise to 800. button folds. I almost call, didn't realise he only had about 300 left. Folded the 200 though, and BB called. I guess I'll let you analyse it first before I tell you what was going on. If it changes your decision, I knew that the bb was calling before I folded. I HATE GOING OUT ON THE BUBBLE! :x ESPECIALLY AFTER COMING TO THE FINAL TABLE AS CHIP LEADER!thanks for your thoughts

Good, I now I will sleep knowing at least someone else thinks a fold is an ok play as well. Turns out if I'd called or raised I would've probably won the tourney. It ended up being a huge pot, but both players had nothing. A high won from the BB, the raiser had KQ. I woulda flopped top pair with a 10 and rivered a 9 for top 2. Looking back, I think if I'd noticed that he only had 300 left I woulda just 3-bet it to 1200, and probably gone heads up with him. Thanks for the input, Wallacer

It's pretty devastating if you get 4bet from the BB at this point.Yeah, you probably are getting more than correct odds to call and you probably DO want to isolate, but who cares? You're going to win, on average, few chips on the call even if you do manage to isolate. The big blind will defend with almost any hand if you fold, so you dont have to worry about the raise going uncontested. You're exposing yourself to far more risk than it's worth by 3betting, and calling just isnt an option (the bb will call too, and you're out of position).

Would calling here in an attempt to get the BB to call as well, thereby increasing the chances that the two players might be able to take out the "shortstack?" (not sure what chip counts really looked like for everyone) be a good play here? You call, BB also calls now with pot size. Three to the flop with, most likely check check bet all-in, call call or something to that degree.I'm not an expert on limit, but I'm curious if this play makes sense here.

You have T9 off suite, why are you even thinking of doing anything but folding? Even trying to get heads up is a losing play. He is in LP with short stack, he could easily have AT or A9 where you are dominated. EASY FOLD.And, NEVER EVER be result oriented in poker, the result should have NO AFFECT on your decision. Look at it this way, if the flop was KKQ, would you have asked this question? Exactly! Anyone telling you here to 3 bet with T9 off is just trying to make you lose.If you are in BB, then call, SB easy fold.
