cmyr 0
Hello... I'm a slightly above break-even microlimit LHE player, and I've just today started playing O8 for kicks, and I'm having a great deal of fun. One thing that's sort of confusing for me right now is the strenght of starting hands; outside of monsters (which I haven't really seen too much) I'm generally not sure what to do with certain hands. Over the last hour or so I've written down a few hands that I thought were a little unclear to me. Some of these I suspect are clear folds; a few might be worth a raise. If somebody with a bit more knowledge then I could go through these quickly and let me know how they think they should be played in and out of position, that would be much appreciated.Ac 4h 7h 2c6h 5h Ac 6cQc Qd 7s AdJd 9d Jh Th3h 2s Ac 9cthanks in advance. JacKingOff_suit 0
Ac 4h 7h 2c LO8: limp if your the first one to put money in the pot, raise otherwise.PLO8: Limp EP, moderate raise MP, pot-raise LP (If get potted back then call, be prepared to battle with AA)6h 5h Ac 6c LO8: mostly fold, unless everyone limps and your at LPPLO8: fold EP. Limp MP, raise LP (how much it depends on your table image, how are the other players ...) but be prepared to check/fold most of the time on the flop (On a second thought, if you are a beginner, I don't recommend you to play this hand at all if you don't know how to control the other buffalos).Qc Qd 7s Ad LO8/PLO8: foldJd 9d Jh Th LO8: put one bet if there are enough callers.PLO8: fold3h 2s Ac 9c Same play as Ac 4h 7h 2c

cmyr 0
thanks for the responses... I think I need to be raising more hands in LO8 (ie, more then just about zero, as things currently stand) but I'm having trouble really seeing where I have that opportunity. Most of that I suspect is just a matter of my needing to put in a few more serious sessions. the JJT9 DS hand was the most interesting for me; I think I limped it late and folded to an empty flop. I take the general idea way from here that if I have A2, a suited Ace, and some counterfeit protection, I have a hand worth putting a bit of money on. thanks again.
PFunk 0
Qc Qd 7s Ad LO8/PLO8: foldJust curious...Why is this such an easy fold for everyone?I would limp, or even call a small bet with this hand, easy.P.
JacKingOff_suit 0
Qc Qd 7s Ad LO8/PLO8: foldJust curious...Why is this such an easy fold for everyone?I would limp, or even call a small bet with this hand, easy.P.Do you see why?:)Ok, with this hand you are shooting for the high only (even 56 beats your low draw), so you are chasing for half of the pot. Now for the high pot, instead of playing 6 combos you are playing with only 3 combos in my opinion(AQ, QQ, and nut flush draw).Bad bad investment.Understando?
PFunk 0
I was only looking at it from the PLO stand point since thats the only omaha I play....You should defineltly take a cheap flop with this hand imo. You are obviously looking for a Q, diamonds, or the straight draw....If the flop is ugly you can get away from it...Not a bad investment unless you commit to it, which you shouldnt-Just my opinion-P. You dont want to be playing for only half the pot, unless you have a monster in one direction. This is not a monster, even from LP. 8)

cmyr 0
smash, could you expand on that?also, can I add Ks Kh Ah Qh to my initial list? I should at least be seeing a cheap flop here, right?

I should at least be seeing a cheap flop here, right?Yes.Look, in LIMIT O8, much moreso than PLO8 you can play a lot more high only hands because you'll see more multiway later streets and getting freerolled or 3/4ed isn't that big of a deal and is easily compinsated for by the scooping potential of quality high only hands. Position is also a lot less important. You need to understand you're folding most of these on most flops though.good luck.
