I am a long distance runner who runs between 8-12 miles a day
So you've got the frame of a lanky 12 year old girl.Wouldn't really be bringing that up as a plus.
HAHAHAHA, good one. That is usually what a fat, out of shape ex-football player who tries to live through his past glory says. Let me guess. You are 24 years old. Played JV football in high school, and are now 35 pounds overweight with a nice beer gut to show for it. I smell jealousy in your tone.

I've been winning about $3k/month playing 40 hours a month. I've done this consistently for the last 24 months. I have a fulltime job and I am not addicted to poker but just addicted to its money. I find I put too much time (2 hours a night after the 9 to 5 job) into this thing and neglected other areas of my life.
Correct me if Im wrong. There are 720 hours in a month. After 8 hours of sleep a night and 160 work hours a month, you are left with 320 hours in the month that is free time. You have concluded that 1/32nd of your free time is too much time and that you neglecting other areas of your life. I think that your problem isnt poker, but very poor time management. In reality, you should come back and post when you are playing 80 hours a week, like some of us do. When you go on 48 or 72 hour sessions regularly, then you can complain about poker taking up too much of your time. If you cant take playing 10 hours a week, then poker isnt really your game. There is nothing wrong with giving up the game, but you really dont have a problem. You waste 2 hours a night playing a game and make 3k a month doing it. Im sorry if I fail to realize the problem. All in all, I hope you make the correct decision for yourself. I would suggest taking a month off. If you have a strong desire to come back and play, then stay with it. If you could care less about playing again, then take up bowling or golf.

Do not play WoW. My brother and my roomate both play it. They have wasted most of the last 6 months playing that stupid game. I refuse to even watch it because it is very addicting. Also, a kid in Korea died from playing WoW. He played 120 hours straight. He had a heart attack and died hours later. Stay away from it. It is the Devil.

dna4ever... what's POTD?Don Giovanni... you're right. It is a nice problem to have.Pupsta... playing at 10/20 is not easy if you don't know what you're doing. allinbluff35... about 2-tabling I am not so sure. 6-handed is a totally different game than 10-handed. You might do okay playing 2 tables 10-handed but I DO NOT RECOMMEND 2-tabling at 6-handed. I see a lot of people doing that and I don't know if they're winning players. If they are, that's very impressive. The action is fast. The players including myself hate to wait for those 2-tabling at 6-handed. Furthermore, the key to poker at any level is paying attention to the players and play accordingly. The key to poker at any level is paying attention to the players and play accordingly. I find it difficult to keep track of players when I play more than 1 table. (I use "when" instead of "if" because I tried it).teneight... Live tourneys are fun. I won three online qualifiers to 2 WPT events and a WSOP main event. I sold the Partypoker cruise for $9k because it was offered to me (party booked too small a ship I guess) and I had an unforeseen training at work that week. I won a seat to the WSOP 2005 (pstars). Played and lost at 1AM day 1 (further than Negreanu :-) ). Almost made the cut for day 2. Last month I won a seat to the Borgata Open (FTP). Finished 75th out of 515 on day 2 (further than Negreanu again :-) ). I am trying to qualify for Foxwoods WPT. Live WPT or WSOP tourneys are the only fun thing in poker for me, now a days. But so far I've taken 2 weeks vacation for just poker (WSOP and Borgata).dead money... I'm sure this just slip by you. It's 1/8th of my free time (40/320). In actuality if I count the commute time and the occasional overtime at work, I average 54 hours/wk for work. 168hrs/wk - 8*8hrs sleep - 54hrs work = 50 hours. 50 "free time" hours to watch TV, go out, eat, shower, shave, etc.. and 10 of those "free time" hours are dedicated to poker. Btw, I find nothing worth commending playing those 42 or 72 hour sessions. You must have the energy of a horse because I can't play tired, unfocused, and my mind delirious.dixie wrecked... I can't stand a dealer shuffling, distributing chips when a pot is split, players taking their sweet time (more than 30 secs), etc... it is way too slow. Only live big tourneys are good because all of that is worth it. 1st place is over 1 million.I think I will just play more online and live tourneys. They are just so much harder they become frustrating.

darthbrunson,I am very sorry. I am good at math but i dont apply it well and often overlook small details. You are right, except i think you have 58 free hours. you gave yourself 8 hours of sleep for 8 days a week. I also want to make my point clear. I dont think playing 10 hours a week is a bad thing. If you are good at the game, then it should be boring. But this just my opinion and I base it on my feelings. I did not intend to come off as rude or arrogant, but looking back at my post, it could have been taken that way. Anyway, good luck with your decision.

you seem like a very nice guy, and you've clearly done many of the alternatives to regular poker (tourneys, different games, etc) that we can recommend. If you still find yourself not enjoying poker then it seems like you have two options. The first is to cut way back on your playing. Cut it back to just a few hours a week; it'll be a nice income boost, but nothing like the $30000+ year you are used to. Another alternative is to continue playing that many hours, but play towards goals. $3000 per month is some serious coin. Maybe go on a vacation every few months. Buy yourself some cool stuff. You could put aside $1-2K per month and buy a lot of cool stuff pretty quick. Not to pry into your personal life, but if you are married or in a serious relationship, seems like it'd be nice to take your partner on a vacation or take them out for nice dinners/evenings on a regular basis. If not, then maybe take some time off and meet a nice man/woman/whatever. doesn't have to be serious but seems like there could be some fun to be had there.again, this seems to be more a lifestyle issue than anything, but from personal experience, i'd recommend assessing your options and making a decision, as opposed to just letting the time drag.cheers, daniel

Wow. You are bored sick of poker and you take the time to sign up at a poker forum to discuss poker with a bunch of 16 year olds. Interesting. Also pretty cool that you can win $3000 every month without any variance. I'm impressed.

I guess that is what happens when you have a bot play for you. No variance. Man, now I see how you are so bored, just watching the bot play for you.

I've been winning about $3k/month playing 40 hours a month.
Right now you playing a little less than 10 hours a week (but 10 is close enough for what I'm about to suggest) and you're making $36,000/year. You work about 54 hr/week and even spend time on the commute leaving you with little free time. Here's an idea. Just QUIT you regular job and play poker 40hr/week. You wil be making $144000/year, be working FEWER hours, have NO commute, and ALOT MORE FREE TIME (which is what you are looking for). Whats not to like? And if you get bored having a 40hr/week job paying you $144000/year, I dont know what to tell you.

how about this:quit your job. play poker 30 hours a week, and take home over $100000 AFTER TAX. you now have over 80 hours free a week to do whatever the hell you want and the disposable income to make it happen.

How can winning an extra $3,000 a month be boring? You said you are only playing 40 hours a month, that is $75/hour.Not to shabby, if you are so good and confident that you are a winning player why not try turning it into a full time job?Try some live tournies or some big buy in MTT's, there is a lot of money to be won in online poker, and a job that you can do in your underwear while drinking a beer is my kind of job!Just my 2 cents :club:
