what do you do when you're on tilt?

Recommended Posts

After you've lost a big hand, or been outdrawn. What do you do to gain back your composure?I do one of three things:1. Rub one out2. Go to a 7card stud table and do some fishing.3. Go to a $2 NL game and push all in with any ace, any pair, any two face cards, or any suited connectors. Usually after I push I start typing random things in the chat box like, "eagaeah" or "gogogogaog"

I go to FCP and start a thread called what do you do when you're on tilt? and wait for all the smart a$$ posters to reply with useless informationthis always gets me off tilt and makes my cards run better for the rest of the nightswjust take a break, walk away from the computer for a bit and do anything to take your mind off poker. #1 always works good

Rubbing one out is extremely effective as tilt supressant. So online, usually rub one out and have a butt. I usually play live though so rubbing one out is rarely an option. So when playing live i usually go have a butt, and take a little walk around the blackjack tables and give myself a little pep talk kinda Phil hellmuth style. Also, for some reason, watching people lose their shirts at blackjack helps a lot.

I just know intuitively that there are going to fluctuations in the luck department. For me it isn't a single bad beat that will put me on tilt... it is about 3 in a row. If this happens and I sense that I am playing poorly, I try to tighten up and play less marginal hands for a little while... until I am confident that my game has returned back to normal. Usually I try to play the entire game (Keep in mind I play mostly live games) and I consider that to be a quality of mine. I know the other players are going to fatigue. Perhaps there are a couple of people who become very loose later in the game, yet some are trying to get back to even. So I try play until the end so I can take advantage of these situations. Now, however, when I am on tilt... I realize that not only I jeopordize my chips infront of me, but I can also become one of the players I beat up on later in the game. If I feel that is what I am heading to( from tilt, fatigue, or whatever), then that is when I leave.

Lose about 20-50 extra BB and then crush my mouse.
Go out in the hallway and smoke a ciggarette. Then look at the guy who hasnt shaved in 3 days, who has had 10 too many beers, and is bitching about how his J 2 off suit got beat by AA when he flopped 2 pair. He then proceeds to tell you that he has dropped a staggering 1000 at the 3/6 tables in the last night. Then you realized that things arent so bad anymore and you can go back to the table and play.

I punch my laundry.P.S. if you go to stud to fish, why not just play stud?.
It's boring for me. I'm pretty good at the .50/1 and 1/2 limits, but I get so bored because I actually have to observe all the cards and memorize everything.
