HurricaneKyle 0
"I forgot to never bluff a calling station.""I forgot that you called down with everything last year."David Ulliot on Fossilman. Truer words were never spoken. Devilfish is awesome, I like how he mixes it up with the other players. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. His table personality is scarily similar to mine, except I don't have the bling or the suits.

HurricaneKyle 0
How the **** could you possibly know this?Do you not read how Raymer builds up his stack during a tournament? The Raymer method of Tournament Poker is simple: Call a raise and be a 2-1 dog or more, hope to hit a flop that gets you even money, push all your chips in and hope to suck out. Call with every coin flip, never fold top pair. Raymer is a fine player but from watching him on TV, and reading his website, the man has never seen a coinflip he wouldn't take. One can always expect respect among disagreesing viewpoints on this site. You have to show intelligence first....then people might respond to you in an intellectual manner.Raymer was not consistently a dog in the main event last year. That is just false....he did run hot on coinflips....but the person who wins a large tournament usually does run hot on those.and you cant complain about people not being intellectual when you construct a sentence as poorly as the bolded words above. HurricaneKyle 0
but the person who wins a large tournament usually does run hot on those.Very True.Your sentence was also well constructed . I'm just kidding CB, you are one of my favorite posters on this site. I'm still cracking up at the thought of your Bill Fillmaff 8s full of 6s story in Atlantic City. My original point was that Greg really likes to call with a lot of marginal hands. It works like a charm when you run well, but you lose a ton of chips real fast playing like that.(See the Tournament of Champions). The hidden value of this is that other players see you calling with these hands and you get big action out of your monster hands. Raymer had a ton of AA's get paid off this year, many other tight players would not have got the same action.I'm sorry I found some humor in Devilfish's comments, there was just enough truth in them, to make them somewhat humorous. mcpickl 0
the Tournament of Champions was a joke. paying one place, it made sense to try and double with marginal hands.

Yes he is very aggressive and he does make some marginal raises. But Devilfish called him a calling station....which is pretty much the opposite of what Raymer is (a super aggressive bully).Raymer makes bad plays sometimes....but they are always Aggressive bad plays. He is not a calling station.

I get tired of the raymer bashing....i have my reasons.Glad you enjoyed the 8s full story. I have a couple good ones from a trip to the borgata last month that I will be pulling out sooner or later. Pokerghost2 0
i think there was some element of truth to the devilfish words, but i think also they were said out of frustration. one person said that raymer should have raised if he thought his 6s were good, to that i disagree, i think against an aggressive player who is or maybe on 2 high cards you get more chips by calling and letting them bluff a few more chips off. a guy like devilfish is a real tricky guy to raise with 66 in that spot, for 1 he may shut it down and fold or 2 he may pop all in and make u lay down the winner. All that said, i do think raymer puts himself in a ton of marginal situations, thats what i think is bad about his play, but we all have different opinions about his play.
