Recommended Posts

We've all heard the adds for "pro football handicappers" on the radio but has anyone actually used one?I have an account with Paradise poker which offers a sportsbook and I was considering using a handicapper to make some bets.Anyone have any experience with this?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm working with one this season, and he's running a shade at about 58% so we are operating at a small profit. If you are new to sports betting make sure your individual STRESSES the importance of bankroll managment, always bet the same amount of units per game regardless how much your stuck or how much your up. Another thing that separates a professional sports bettor (which all of these handicappers are) is they are going to bet FAR less games then your average bettor. I know when I first started out I pretty much followed a recipe for disaster, I loved betting more on my 'big' games, which were usually the huge rivalry games and games with the most amount of intangibles, I also loved to eat huge chalky teams (teams favored by 30 pts or more), and finally, the bigger the parlay the more I loved it. I got CLOBBERED not because my picks were bad, I had a lot of weeks were I would go 6-4 or 7-3, but still be stuck because I would win all my small wagers, yet lose the large ones. Now I probably only bet 4-6 games a weekend, which used to be the number of games I would bet before the 2:30 college games started. Most handicappers will charge a decent fee for their services, mine was $300+ for the entire college/NFL FB season, so if your only betting $10-$50 a game, I'm not sure your going to show a profit down the road. If you want contact info for my guy go ahead and PM me. If you have any other questions go ahead and post them up and I'll do my best to answer them. We went 3-2 this weekend FYI, loss on UNC +3.5, loss on Oakland +1, win NYG -3.5, win Wash +5.5, and we did a 2 Team parlay for half the bet unit so ended up a couple hundred for the weekend (I bet 220 per game). Although I still will make my occasional $10 6 teamers though, I can't help it, I came close on this last one....I had Louis O, Neb U, La Monroe +37, MSU O, but Oklahoma torpedoed me as did Ball St.

I have used Wayne Root, Kelso Sturgeon & Jim feist in the past. All they do is hound you over the phone for more money for there picks. They are expensive and just like any capper they run hot and cold. My friend recently broke off from a service and started his own www.vegassportspredictions.com . They have been red hot in MLB and they predict every sporting event for free on there website. There service plays are realitively inexpensive. Check out his site and see what you think. He went 4 - 0 last night in Monday Night football w/ Wash +5- , Giants -3- & both unders. He is starting to heat up in football from a slow start. He also had the Pirates beating the Astros last night!, which made me a pretty penny also.

This is the stupidest thing out there. If you or I had the ability to pick 4 out of 5 NFL games a week - which is what many advertise, would we need a 900 number or to give these scammers a credit card number?Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

"professional Handicappers" are a complete and total scam. I have a buddy that is a "professional Handicapper". His best friend and him have a website and 900 number etc. Their claim on their 900 number is that they have hundreds of thousands of games entered into their sophisticated super computer, that uses a complex math formula to predict outcomes of games to 90% win ratio. I've been there when they use their "super computer" it's the two of them drinking beer, randomly picking teams out of the paper on wednesday morning. But they are making a killing so more power to em. My suggestion is to do your own research, with the internet it's not hard to do.

Anyone who believes they can pick 90% winners is an idiot. Anyone who gets someone to pay them on the premise they can pick 90% winners is a genius. If I can pick 60% winners for the year I'm estatic. The best season I've ever seen personally was one of my fraternity buddies who went about 68% over College Basketball, which I think is probably the easiest sport to handicap, due to the sheer glut of games. Coupled with the fact that Vegas has to put a line on all of them.
