live 2/4 mathmatically unbeatable?

Recommended Posts

The 2/4 games at the local B&M, for the most part, is as soft as a newborn babys bottom. I started in Jan with the required 300bb bankroll ($1200 obviously).I play pretty much just on Saturdays, usually anything from a 9-13 session, depending on how the game is, how I feel, etc. It is now Sept, and my bankroll has increased to $2700. I've had 30 winning session, 17 losing session. My biggest win was about $350 in 12 hours.Mostly by playing ABC, by the book (SSHE) poker, you can make a killing at the lower limits. Once I get to $3000, I plan on doing the same to the 5/10 games. It just takes discipline, patience, self control, and the confidence to know that you are a better player than 90% of the people you sit at the table with.

went down to ac a couple weeks ago with my cousin and brother in law to play in a nl holdem tourny with a 120 buy in. my cousin an brother in law busted out middle earliesh and went to the 2 4 table. i played 2 4 for about 8 hours after i busted out (i think 15th, in the money but really didnt do much more than double my buy in). my cousin who is tight aggresive and a good player won about 60 bucks after playing for about 10 hours. my brother in law who is far to loose and really not that good about broke even playing way to many pots and getting lucky on a couple big ones. i lost about 80 bucks playing for about 7 hours which still left me up on the day but not much. i dont think ill ever play live 2 4 again. i was running with about the worst cards ive ever had or at least close. i folded a rediculous number of hands at one point in a row and was actually a little impressed with my patience, which isnt normal. the table i was at was outstanding. some absolutely terrible players, just there to gamble and calling down to the river with almost any two cards. i couldnt beat it playing tight agressive. i fopped a set of aces from the button after raising preflop with one caller. bet right out on the flop cause i knew he would call. bet all the way through even when he raised and he bet me with 8 q off when he caught a str8 on the river. at another table with lots of raising and tons of action i had kj and the flop was j 6 2. i was sb. i bet the flop went ot 3 bets. check raised the turn which went to 4 bets when it came a king. and ended up losing a showdown for 4 bets with a river ace to 4 players when one had ace 7, one had nothing, i had kings and jacks and the guy that won had q 10 off. called 3 bets on the flop of j62 with q 10 off. now i know a lot off you are saying i already should have folded the hand. but if you were watching this game and playing with these people you wouldnt have eiither. so yes i think its beatable. if you get halfway decent cards. but its not worth it. for the times youll get sucked out on and the possible run of bad cards as in this instane its not worth it. im sure if you got average cards you could make 3 or 4 bb an hour consistently, but for the time and money im sure you could do better playing 7 stud limit, omaha limit, omaha 8, limit or any low blind pot or no limit omaha, nhl, or omaha 8 and be better off if your a deceent player. just my opinion but if your going to play limit holdem your probably better off playing 5 10. and as far as the b and m vs online i found the play much much losser live than online. lots of dead money which i was very frustrated i couldnt win because of unusually cold cards. which is obviously great but anyway rambling just my opinion.

LMAO, I couldn't read it, so I skipped it and went straight to this post.I know some believe grammar on a forum isn't that important, but since its the language we use online to commumicate with one another, it might not hurt to try. A little effort is all we need.Which brings me to my hi jack question:When I type, I stare at my keyboard, then proofread what I've typed. If I misspell a word, but its clear what I mean, should I make the effort to correct it? Say, for example, I mean to spell Negreanu but I accidentally type Negreani, or Negresnu. Will I be flamed mercilessly for not correcting this?P.S. If I post and then notice a grammatical error, I usually edit it. Flame away.

The games are beatable when the table is rediculously loose. I'm talking about when the flops are 8 handed and such. If you avoid the urge to bluff at all (missing with AK for example) and just play your drawing hands well and get max value out of your made hands they can be beaten pretty soundly but it's terribly boring. You're reduced to an odds machine (include rake and tip in pot odds). You also have to suffer through many bad beats. I just play 4/8. The player still blow and the rake is a small perentage of the pot.

Definitely beatable. I took $60 in 3.5 hours. I even tipped too much the first hour. :)And I'm a .25/.50 LHE player.Could it be variance? Yeah, sure. But the players were so ridiculously bad that I won one pot against a guy who called me down with 10-high, no pair, and no draw.Maybe that guy was the variance. :club:

Games at 2/4, 3/6, 2-6 spread are easily beatable in live games for a profit. Most of the good NL players that don't really try to learn Limit have a very hard time beating it. I know I did at first. All I want to do was play my big NL hands. I would either get no action on them, or get drawn out on a lot. I since have learned to play suited connectors/connectors a lot more in Limit. Since doing that I get more action on my better hands. You also have to lay down those big hands when you know you are beat. If AK or AQ doesn't hit on the flop get away from it fast.Last but no least, don't try to make a living at bluffing the pot.
