just another gas price thread

Recommended Posts

Gas went from 0.98 last week to $1.38/litre this morning... thats a 40 cent jump in about 4 or 5 days. The truth is regardless of what you pay or where you live, when gas jumps that much in a short amount of time people don't budget for it, including myself - That's why people are whinning. On top of that The Canadian Governament charges 30% tax on all gas, meaning they have the power to drop it well below $1 right now for its citizens yet nothing of course will come of it.

Stop whinning the lot of you!!I live in the UK.Gas (petrol to us) is 99.9p per litre. There are 4.5 litres to the gallon. So roughly thats £4.50 a gallon.Exchange rate at the moment is £1.00 = $1.75Therefore we pay around $7.80 per gallon. Now stop whinning !!!!!
Other countries always pay more than the US though. It's nothing new.
Exactly! Quite frankly when gas went to $1.50, $1.80, 2, etc. I said the same thing well others in other countries are paying much, much more. Now it has started to piss me off. Paying $3.19 when we aren't use to it sucks.I have a long commute and despite the fact that I drive a small economical car I spent $25.00 more this week for gas then I used to spend and I don't see that changing any time soon, and in fact most likely will get worse for a while. So let us poor pathetic Americans have a little cheese with our whine!

to my European friends i guess now we are going to feel the same pain you feel except atleast you are used to it. Now on a side note our gas has been going up for quite awhile so im wondering if this whole Hurricane thing is just an excuse for them since they were planning on raising them anyway. Dont get me wrong i was hit by Katrina and it did way more damage then we thought (nothing compared to NO) and our gas only went up a little bit. I dont see why a hurricane in NO would raise gas prices in NY or Chicago or the rest of the country. When Hurricane Andrew flattened Miami in 92 they werent raising gas prices around the country and i do believe Miami has more citizens than NO so we probably needed more gas. Anyway thats my conspiracy theory for today.

there are not 4.5 litres to a gallon. there aren't even 4.5 liters to a gallon. it's about 3.8 actually. just wanted to correct the fuzzy math. 128 ounces in a gallon, 33.8 ounces in a liter. unless you're working off of some british metric system i'm unaware of.

I'm a poor highschool student and it just cost me 38.41 fucking dollars to fill up my honda accord. I'm pissed. Fucking cock sucking oil companies are just ripping us off because we need it.

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litresI know it's hard to comprehend, but the United States is not the centre of the universe!

Hate to break it to you but the canadian dollar isnt worth the paper its printed on so that might be why you think your gas is high.

Anyway thats my conspiracy theory for today.Well, about 20% of our nations oil comes from the Gulf of Mexico. Many of the Gulf oil riggs were damaged in the hurricane and a lot of that oil goes to Chicago and the greater midwest via New Orleans and the Mississippi. Right now, there is virtually no shipping of this oil coming up from the Gulf thus raising gas prices.
