its about an hour and a half of the more "exciting" scenes.... so if the tournament is about an hour, then they are gonna have to show EVERY hand...(and they still wont fill a whole slot).. and we all know the WPT hates to do that. that would be terribly boring... the high stacks will be bullying the blinds around until they pick up a weak ace or a low pair.... then to the rail they go.

Once you get to the final 6 the WPT has its own structure to slow the pace. They add up the chips and then divide it by 200.. thats the blinds... they have had events when with 2 tables left the blinds were higher then when they get to the final 6...

Posted: January 26 2005 at 5:23pm | IP Logged -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HUGE POT.Negreanu opens for 45,000 in middle position. All fold to Liras. Liras makes it 95,000. Negreanu, playing like his old self, makes the call. The flop is Q62 with two diamonds. They both check. The turn is a 4. Check-check. River is a 5. Liras reaches, thinks, and fires 140,000. Negreanu can't believe his actions. He talks aloud and says this might be a stupid call. He finally works up the courage, calls, and asks if he has a pair. Liras doesn't move. He can't speak. Liras finally says no pair and Danny turns over 96s. The 6's win the pot.Sweet...thanks to www.wptinsider.com

From ***editted to remove incorrect chip counts***WTG! People should check out the WPTInsider.com thread for more detailed posts, but I'm eager to see Daniel's when he's ready to post. Can't he get some good food airlifted to him?! I have Vegan friends in New Orleans... maybe they can make a trip.

From WPTInsider  The final table chip counts are ( I know that the numbers are switched from pokerwire.com - unable to determine which is correct):  1 - Michael Mizrachi - 515,000  2 - John Stolzmann - 517,000  3 - Chau Giang - 1,406,000  4 - Raja Kattamuri - 330,000  5 - Scotty Nguyen - 1,210,000  6 - Daniel Negreanu - 1,713,000
these are still the correct chipcounts. they're just not sorted by the chips, they're probably sorted by table seating.aseem

I don't think that these are the correct figures. Danny's journal entry for today shows that he has 1,173,000 so I am inclined to believe that is the correct number.Either way its a nice stack :D Good luck for today Danny!

Daniel is one of my favorite players but damn do this Scotty.  No limit baby.
"Don't you know you don't need a hand to win baby?"He said that (maybe not exactly) during the broadcast of Championship Poker from the Plaza when he took down that pot with only a 4-flush. Good times.

is it just me or are phil ivey and phil hellmuth getting out early a ton these days???  It seems like in the past couple of poker tournaments ive been following and watching they keep getting out early.
Well, I've read numerous places that Phil Ivey is intentionally playing a really fast-aggressive approach to either build chips or bust. He wants to either destroy the tourney or play in the lucrative cash games supposedly. Since he can make so much at the high end cash games.Check out http://www.barrygreenstein.com/pivey.htm and look specifically at the first _long_ paragraph. Ah heck, I'll quote the appropriate part, or some of it "And when he has played in a tournament event, he has played tired because of the cash game the night before. (I know because I have been in the games with him.) He also has had to adopt a style geared to build up quickly or get knocked out quickly during the event, so that he won’t wear himself out for the cash game later that night."As for Phil Hellmuth, we all know he's just all about making money off poker without playing poker nowadays, and he thinks he's god without having to try/practice. :)MrConceit

No updates today becuase he can't brign a laptop in . . . arrrggh.Hopefully Daniel will update us when he can. I really enjoyed that thread on wptinsider.com for this event, and now we are left hanging . . .6 months to tv?When are we going to start demaning more immediate coverage. They don't tape the super bowl or world series of basebaln and then show it when they feel like it. I'm not talking live, but give me somethign.
