daniel's loosing his touch...

Recommended Posts

Listen guys, I am A Huge fan. I live in Toronto and playalot of tourneys here. I am telling you all he was being "sandbagged"By alot of chumps. I was sticking up for him the whole tourney. These guys were saying that Raymer has outclassed him in the last 2 years with his performances. I was arguing that if Daniel spent the same amount of time play that he did promoting , he would have Raymer beat easily. I don't mean to offend anyone I was just looking for feedback so when I go back on Sunday I Can give it to these guys.  By the way alot of these players have played against Daniel including myself. If you don't believe me you can ask him how many time he got rivered at Funtime At the Armenian Centre in North YOrk?ps. I really don't care if you like my post or not?I was just telling it like it is in the T dot.
I'm sure Daniel really cares about what some chump poker players in Toronto say about him. I didn't realize he needs saps like you to defend him.

Listen, First And Foremost. Daniel Is my favourite player on the WPT or Cash games or where ever he plays? I have played in the same charity's where he first started and respect the mans game immensely. I am not a part time player and consider myself an above average player who knows the game. All I said was that in Toronto, where there are alot of Underground Tournies going on, Alot of people having been talking trash about him. Myself, Not included. They are saying he has sold out ( whatever that means) I would do the same as Daniel if I were in his shoes. The more green the better. They were arguing with me that he has given up on playing poker and become a Poker Poster Boy first for the Wynn and other Advertising schemes. I argued wouldn't we all if we could and they said NO!! They referred to others who are in it to PLay POKER and be the best. They said He could not compete with Ivey or Reese. I argued he could. Just wanted to get your feedback. So when I go back on sat and sun I have more POints to get across. If you are looking for a PLayer Hater, YOu didn't find one here. Thanks

Although Dn's recent variance doesn't mean his skills have deteriorated, It'd be interesting to hear from Dn if honestly he thinks running bad and taking beats affects his confidence and playing style at all. I always figured top players could just shrug it off better than the rest of us, but after reading Doyle's recent interview that was posted here, I was stunned to see that a few years ago he went through a period with bad results and was wondering if 'the game had passed me by' - of course until he won a tourney and has been kicking a$$ ever since.

also I don't think people realize that there are far more players so you won't see people nearly as much as you would two years ago.  THERE WERE 6000 PEOPLE AT THE ME
Agree.

Hey Guys.  I'm really happy for DAniel and all his "personal" success. But has anyonenoticed that his Poker Playing has been real shady lately???Take for example AK vs A8 and he lets the kid off the hook. In 2004 he would have had the guts and the READ to put him all in. I think hisPersonal life and all the distractions of the CELEB Thing are really hampering his skills. I was at a Local Toronto Tourney (where Daniel is From) and all I heard was "Daniel Stinks" "Daniel has lost his touch"  "I could beat him heads up" NOw I am A Big Daniel Fan so I backed him up teh best I could. BUt these guys were making some good points. He didn't even make 1 final table at the WSOP???He didn't even Play in the superstars event???What do you guys think......
If I recall dident DN say to hellmuth that he needs to stop worrying about all the great buisness with poker and just play. I think he needs to take his own advise.

I am in no way directing this towards DN or anyone else, just stating the facts for those who are less fortunate...sell·out n : an act of betrayalThe act of selling out. An event for which all the tickets are sold. Slang. One who has betrayed one's principles or an espoused cause. I myself don't believe Daniel has sold out his poker playing days, I'd say he is just promoting the game to rest of the fish out there for his fellow FCP'ers to feast on. Be patient, Daniel will get his game on soon enough. And when he does, thats when you go back to your casino buddies, not say a word and just walk in there with that grim on your face  knowing that DN is the man...

Let's be realistic. The OP has a point. It's a little out there to say DN "lost his touch", but let's not berate him too bad for something that, for all we know, may be true. Seriously, how do any of us know what level he is playing at for the last year? All evidence points to him playing fairly poorly. No bracelets is obviously not a big deal, but 1 cash in however many events, and no other noteable finished in a year is very suspect. He is still a great player and a good guy imo...

I don't think DN has lost his touch. Maybe he hasn't been trying as hard lately, but it's kind of hard to keep a streak like he had going. He won POY for Cardplayer, the WSOP, and WPT last year. How long did you expect that to last? Right now other players are hot such as Phil Ivey and John Pan are hot. He was so hot last year that he was due to cool down.
