taking the b&m dive (chicago area)

Recommended Posts

This weekend (Saturday afternoon or maybe Friday night) I will be making my first real trip to a B&M poker room (played in one tourney like 6 years ago in Mt. Pleasant). I am not sure if I am going to go to Trump or Resorts, but I am looking to see if any FCP'ers want to meet up. I am going to play 2/5 NL, and will probobly bring enough for 2 buy in's (hopefully not needed). If anyone in the area is interested in meeting up (and winning some easy cash if you play NL) let me know.Any suggestions from Chicago casino regulars would be appreciated on which one to go to based on player skill, rake, etc...

I don't think I'm exactly a regular, but I've played several times at the Trump. In short, this place is a dump, you'll find the dregs of society there. But it does offer some juicy games. I've played several times at the 2/5 NL table, and it can be a very profitable game. The play there (especially on the weekend) is VERY loose. The only downside to the play at this table is the time charge is pretty high - $7 per half hour. That rate does seem ridiculous, but as long as you're not completly cold-decked you should be able to more than make up for it. I'd love to play there this weekend, but I don't know if I'll be able to make it out of the house. Good luck.

I am not expecting the Bellagio out of either of these places. I may give one place a shot Friday night, and try out the other room on Saturday if I have any success. I think I remember hearing that Resorts has the same type of rake, so I'm screwed either way there...

Let me know how it goes. I've been meaning to check out the Resorts since it's been under new ownership and haven't gotten the chance. the only thing I know about it is the lowest limit they spread is 5/10, and they have these 2 table SNGs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday that are apparently a joke. A friend of mine played 2 weeks ago, and said it was something like 1000 starting chips, blinds of 25/50 doubling every 15 mins., so unless you picked up a big hand early you were basically short-stacked the entire tourney.
