who's an espn insider?

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there pay to be an Insider? I ask because I went to look at the Phil Gordon chat today, and couldn't see it since I never subscribed. I thought maybe someone could post it on here, if it isn't too long.

Cool, the chat was today. It's weird because you could see Brunson's chat yesterday for free, maybe they were just giving us peons a taste of what the insiders get.

Hopefully this is what you were looking for.Alex (NY): Hey Phil, What was the deal with the Full Tilt poker tournament? When did this take place? Phil Gordon: Yesterday. We started at 8 AM and played down until the last 6. The TV final table started at 3. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ringo (Austin,TX): I enjoyed the live tournament on TV yesterday. It's great getting to see the small "stack building" hands that are played. What did you think of the format, and how did they keep the amatuers out? Phil Gordon: It was by inivitation only, so there were no amateurs at the table. I thought the format was very good. We played shorthanded (6 handed) all day until we played down to the final 6. There were reasonable levels of the blinds. $20,000 buy in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Steve Cleveland: IF Phil Ivey wins the Main Event, is he officially the best poker player in the world? Phil Gordon: He already is the best poker player in the world, even if he doesnt win. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------joe fashion: what was with that shirt yesterday? You looked like a washed up prom king Phil Gordon: When was the last time you were on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Adam (Toronto): Phil, is full Tilt better then other sites? why? Phil Gordon: Everyone has their own opinion. I think we have the best software in the industry and its the only place where you can play against the best players in the world. Or watch thebest players in the world and learn from the best players in the world. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Joe (Philly): Phil, where would you have seated everyone if you were allowed to assign the seating positions last night on Full Tilt? I assume Daniel was right where you wanted him? Phil Gordon: Daniel was right where I wanted him. I would have put Ted on his right. Kristy in my big blind, and Clonie in the small blind. John would follow her. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ryan (Rochester Ny): Hey Phil just wondering what happened on the hand that you got knocked out on? A bad beat? Phil Gordon: One of the things that happens in short handed play is this. I had A Q. Daniel raised, I re-raised. Once I re-raised I was pot committed when Kristy put me all in. She had AK, I had AQ. Its just one of the things that happen in short handed play. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------max (st louis, mo): who do you believe is the best player on the full tilt team? Phil Gordon: Ivey. Second best - Chris Ferguson/Eric Seidel. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Kip Mathers (Los Angeles, CA): Phil, somebody told me about your new DVD and said it was great. Where can I get it? And who else is in the DVD? Phil Gordon: Its available only online at expertinsight.com. Phil Gordon: And Chris Ferguson and Matt Savage are also in the video, besides me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Brad, Philly: Hey Phil, I was wondering whether you hang out with fellow poker players when you are not playing in the tournaments. If so which pros are you good friends with? Phil Gordon: Antonio Esfandiari, David Williams, Chris Ferguson, Rafe Furst and a hundred more. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jim (Detroit): Phil, at the beginning of day 6 Raymer, Ivey and Matusow are in the top five cheap leaders. If two of these three were to be the final two, what matchup would you want to see most and why? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Patrick (Houston, Texas): Phil, you are one of my favorite color commentators, I don't just mean in poker, that's all sports. What do you do to prepare for that duty? Thanks. Phil Gordon: Nothing. I show up on set and (laughs) after 42 shows I have it pretty well down pat. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------brian (fla): If you could have a starting five fantasy team of poker players who would it be??? Phil Gordon: Ivey, Ferguson, Seidel, Juanda, and Heather Graham. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Brian (Pasadena, CA): Is it possible to watch the Full Tilt tournament? Was it taped? Is it online? Will it be (was it) on t.v.? Phil Gordon: I think it'll repeat a few times, I'm not sure. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Joe (Philly): Your game must suffer from the time you spend with your other commitments (which you obviously enjoy and we benefit). Any plans to scale back and concentrate more on playing? Phil Gordon: No, I dont like to play full time. I like to play a few more events. I dont think I'll play the WPT, I'll play the Harrahs events instead. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------scarff (nyc): Hey Phil, please tell me you and Dave Foley are getting boozed at the desk during tapings of Celebrity Poker... Phil Gordon: Of course we are! It's in Vegas! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nick (Pittsburgh): Do you like Matasow's chances of winning? And is he part of full tilt, or does he order his clothes online. Phil Gordon: He's definately a member of the team. I love Mike, despite his personality flaws. I just hope he can retain his emotional stability for two more days. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Garbs (NY,NY): If Raymer makes the final table, where does he stand in poker history? Phil Gordon: Obviously that would be a tremendous accomplishment. Two years in a row, he's deep. Theres still a long way to go until he wins again, or even make the final table. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ben (KC): Everyone says Ivey is the best. What makes him the best? His reads, his lack of tells, his guts? Phil Gordon: His focus, determination, stamina, and the fact that his opponents lay down for him more than any other player in the world. He can raise every hand and they'll just keep folding. Ask youself this question: Do you want to be in a pot with Phil Ivey? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------joe (deale, md.): Any of the full tilt honeys available?? Also, will there be a "Honey's of Full Tilt" calendar?? Phil Gordon: (laughs). Front cover, Howard Lederer, Miss January Chris Ferguson dressed in drag. Phil Gordon: (laughs). Front cover, Howard Lederer, Miss January Chris Ferguson dressed in drag. Phil Gordon: I've got to run out for now, but we'll chat again on Monday and talk about the winner of the WSOP! Thanks for hte questions and sorry for cutting it short! Andrew Feldman: I can take a couple questions if interested --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jen Smythe: Phil, what was that pin you were wearing last night on your shirt? Somebody told me it has to do with cancer. Is that true? Andrew Feldman: I'll answer that one. It's Phil's Charity thats trying to "Put a Bad Beat On Cancer". Phil has been going around and these pins signify that 1% of the tournament winnings are going to cancer research. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tim: Have Raymer and Mike been getting along this year at the tables. I remember last year Raymer saying after Mike was knocked out.. " Mike was going out, it was just a matter of time ", and other comments, have they put that behind them or are they still going at it? Andrew Feldman: I honeslty havent heard any comments like this so far. Things have been pretty mellow among the tables and Raymer and Matusow have not been at the same table yet. I am sure at some point today that will change. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Brian Abq: Andrew, how hard has it been to cover the WSOP with all the media that has been around, plus the ESPN Cameras get first rights to the tables? Andrew Feldman: Tallk about a media frenzy. There are like 20 cardplayer people, 4 pokerwire people, 5 pokerpages people, all trying to get chip counts! Besides them, the cameramen roam the floor non-stop. They changed the rules for the media the other day as far as where we can stand during play to allow the cameramen to have all the space they need. It really is amazing how that many media outlets have decided to cover the event this year. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Brian (fla): what are the WSOP standings as of right now? Andrew Feldman: Mike Matusow $5,104,000 Phil Ivey $4,600,000 Steve Dannenmann $4,150,000 Tex Barch $3,900,000 Greg Raymer $3,500,000 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Israel (Atlanta, GA): When do youe expect the WSOP to become a $25,000 buy-in for the main event? Andrew Feldman: The tournament directors do not want to go this route. They said, "As long as we can handle it, we're not going to increase the buy in." I'm not sure what handle it means, but I'm guessing that once it hits 10K in players, they may need to re-think their strategy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Israel (Atlanta, GA): Why do you think Daniel did so much poorer this year compared to last year? Did people simply play him more aggressively since they see him play into draws on TV so often? Andrew Feldman: Daniel just had a tough world series, no way around it. He couldnt get much going and only he can tell you why. He's also been playing nightly at the win for a lot of money, so perhaps this was distracting him. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Phil: (Ottawa, Canada): How many pros do you think will work their way through to the final table? Andrew Feldman: I said 3 yesterday and said: Matusow, Ivey, and Watkinson. Whoops. Watkinson is out, so I'll still say 3, but replace Watkinson with Raymer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mike (Cleveland): Why does ESPN wait 3 months to air the main event? With the way the Internet is today, we will know the winner as soon as it happens. Andrew Feldman: Its hard to cut down 9 days of play into a couple hours. Plus, they are airing all the circuit events. As far as finding out the winner, poker is mainstream enough that everyone will be reporting on it anyway. Good luck trying to hide from finding out the result. In all honest, people watch poker on TV to see the hands. Yes you may know who won the whole thing, but its the hands that really are the exciting ones that you pay attention to. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------RD (Boulder City, NV: Do you think ESPN will ever air a live tournament? Andrew Feldman: No idea. Andrew Feldman: Ok, its time to see who will survive the day! Join me tomorrow when I will have Evelyn Ng chatting with us! Orville

i have insider, and it is SO worth it. not only that, i get 6 months of reading material in the bathroom in the form of espn the mag.i enjoy reading the elias stat report daily, just to chuckle at my fascination for dumb and useless stats.the blogs that the writers write are also worth it...buster olney's blog is great for a baseball fan.i'll definitely be renewing when it expires. it's the pokertracker of espn.com.

Phil Gordon and Antonio...  Dammit, it's a good setup, but I have nothing to say after this.  Someone make a funny comment about how much of a douchebag Antonio is.
Um, he is such a douche that he could suck up 1.4 swimming pools full of liquid??

Yeah, thanks for posting this. I didn't realize that it was old, but still worth the read. One of these days my cheap ass will have to pony up for Insider.
