anything by Thomas PynchonRick Bass writes welldefinitely agree with anything Vonnegut (although Time Quake lacked something to me)Catcher in the Rye was good, and Salinger is near the top of my list, but I think Nine Stories would be my favorite of his, especially "A Perfect Day for Bananafish"...best short story I've ever read

great gatsby. best book ever.steinbeck is decent. of mice and men is a great one.
I actually prefer Steinbeck's East of Eden or Tortilla Flat. The Great Gatsby was a good one but it's been so long since I read it... For some reason, I always enjoyed A Tale of Two Cities a great deal.Heh, I think of Vonnegut every time I see the poster on here 'Kilgore Trout'. :-)Patrick

For those of you who aren't into the classics, I'd suggest anything by Carl Hiassen. Over the top characters and sarcasm...perfect for this group.

I've always enjoyed it too. I also like Hard Times by Dickens.

If you enjoy science and some chills go with anything written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. They were the guys who wrote "The Relic" which was a fantastic book that was turned into a mediocre movie. All of there books I enjoy.Clive Cussler is great for light reading. Are there any other Harry Potter fans in here?? I dont care how much of a dork it makes me I love Harry Potter! I would love to have people to discuss them with. As far as "good" literature goes, I like fahreinheit 451, anything by Ayn Rand, anything by Isaac Asimov, and any expose book by eric schlosser.

Clive Cussler is great for light reading.I've read them all. As well as the Paul Kempenarous (sp) and the Oregon ones. Are there any other Harry Potter fans in here?? I dont care how much of a dork it makes me I love Harry Potter! I would love to have people to discuss them with. Who would ever want to read these books. Um er, I may have glanced at all of them at one time or another. Where you as disapointed as I about the third movie? I made the huge mistake of re-reading the book before going to the movie. As far as "good" literature goes, I like fahreinheit 451, anything by Ayn Rand, anything by Isaac Asimov, and any expose book by eric schlosser.Asimov is awesome (Robot Novels are my favorite). Battlefield Earth and the Mission Earth decology (thats 10 books if you didn't know....lol) by L. Ron Hubbard are good reads as well.

Try out Chuck Paluhniak....His first novel was Fight Club, his newer works are some of the best novels i've read in years. "Lullaby" " Survivor" "Choke" and "Invisible Monsters" are the others Ive read. All of them more sick and twisted than the last. Read 'em, you'll thank me.

Hmm...I was going to suggest Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Brimstone was amazing.Chuck Palahniuk is good too, Choke is the most ridiculous book I've ever read, but still great.Stephen King still owns all though
Yeah, Brimstone was fantastic. Read Dance of Death yet? Pretty good sequel.Cabinet of Curiousities is probably my favorite though.

Last time I was in Vegas I brought Thunderhead to read on the flight over and then spent a majority of my first two days there sitting in my hotel room reading it. I couldn't put it down. All of their books have that effect on me.
