EVILGENIUS 0
I am happy with my pre-flop play thanks to sshe but when at a table with good players I realize I am getting out played post-flop.limit 1/2 live mostly...win/lose break even mostly lately have lost last 3 trips. I am playing against older players in Florida where the max limits allowed are 1/2 or straight 2 so there is a mix between complete idiots and some very good players(who in other states would be playing higher limits.Any good books that focus on post flop? Sushiman 0
Small Stakes Holdem and Holdem for Advanced Players were pretty good. They spread 1/2 limit in live games? Is that even beatable with the rake/tipping/drinks?
CobaltBlue 662
Advanced Players is usually recommended for higher stakes. And, I'm not entirely sure, but my guess is that it's the format...1/2 Live just isn't nearly as profitable when you take into account tipping/rake. KDawgCometh 2
live low limit has some real brutal rakes, you should probably move some of your BR online. Don't be afraid to post hands that you remember. Keep a little notebook with you so that you can write down the details of hand. SSHE certainly helps you out post flop, so be sure to read it over a couple of times, and also be sure to read Theory of Poker, just remember that it is a more abstract book and isn't focused on telling you what to do as it is about making you think about your play
econ_tim 0
you should review sshe, it should help you improve your postflop playit's good you're focusing on that, because postflop is where most of the money is won and lost
EVILGENIUS 0
thanks for the replies and I am reading top and plan to go right back to sshe when done.I am attempting to be a tag but honestly am begining to think I am more on the weak tight side(am making an effort to improve)anyone know how i can get pokertracker(full version) for free? And a way to decipher it?I know i am better at post-flop than I was before reading them. Here is some general crap about my weekend of poker...read if you wantI prefer live play as I enjoy that aspect and like to use my reading ability(ok to better than ok :? )Also I usually can tell the better players much quicker by their play and mannerisms during play. I destroyed my friend's home game friday 5 handed 20 buck buy in limit max raise 1(friendly home game). I had 67 dollars when it got down to 2. We then played 1/2 then 2/4 heads up and I had it all(100) in 30 mins. i was running hot but I played well and didn't chase with crap...I resisted playing nl like the other player wanted to because I knew I could outplay him and didn't want to blow my winnings on one lucky or unlucky hand(he will go all in pre-flop with almost anything decent thus covering his weak post flop play) and I know I can beat him post flop if i get the chance.Saturday I got called to a game again 5 handed where 3 of us were good players and 2 fish. 1 max raise again plus several nl tourneys. I made about 10 bucks, another player made 11, and the other won the rest( good player running hot), the 2 fish contributed 60. I played the big winner heads up for about 1 hour and was slowly chipping away at him until a big hand where I lost 9 bucks and then he decided to stop playing(his house and he only slept like 4 hours the night before).I never play nl online and only a little live so he decides to show me sit and goes on party(i'm convinced limit will teach me how to play better so I never play nl). He loses a 25 buy in in like 5th, then decides to do a 50 which he wins(his first big win at this level) I was giving some advice but won't take any credit as we usually agreed on most moves( he is more aggressive and i dont play nl so I am wary of all in without good hands but I can see the necessity of doing so in short stacked situations). He let me play a 10 tourney(my first ever online) while he watched(no advice but to criticize my play after the fact) and I placed 3rd to double my money.I tried to show him how to make money at limit .5/1(we argued for an hour earlier about how limit was unbeatable because of all the suckouts that occur from all the idiots calling a buck with 48o ) but was not convincing as I didn't win a hand at all and lost the 25(played good but 2 pockets got rivered by flushes and just couldn't win with what i got...oh well.I prefer live home games as there is no rake or tips (well i do buy a 12 pack of beer) I'm bored so I rambled some...
