******** PLEASE DON'T MOVE THIS TO THE TEXAS HOLD-EM FORUM THAT NOBODY READS!!!!!!*************So I have been playing at the Party $25 max buy-in no-limit tables for a little over a month and have managed to turn my $100 into $350, so I have some experience at these tables. This hand really bothered me so I figured I would post it here and get some feedback. Also, I know you are supposed to use the converter when you post a hand here but I could not figure out how to use it. I tried to make the hand as easy to read as possible. I know the converter is probably really easy to use, but maybe I am a moron. ***** Hand History for Game 2528332670 ***** 0/0 Texas Hold'em Game Table (NL) - Sat Aug 13 14:11:05 EDT 2005 Table Table 37031 (Real Money) -- Seat 10 is the button Total number of players : 10 Seat 1: ( $24.75) Seat 2: ( $29.65) Seat 3: ( $14.50) Seat 4: ( $11.20) Seat 5: ( $46.60) Seat 6: ( $15.75) Seat 7: ( $28.95) Seat 8: ( $33.05) Seat 9: bcarter9653 ( $25) Seat 10: ( $28.95) Seat 1 posts small blind (0.10) Seat 2 posts big blind (0.25) bcarter9653 posts big blind (0.25) This is my first hand at the table so I have no reads whatsoever ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to bcarter9653 [ Ks, Ac ] Seat 3 folds. Seat 4 folds. Seat 5 folds. Seat 6 folds. Seat 7 folds. Seat 8 calls (0.25) bcarter9653 raises (0.75) to 1 Seat 10 folds. Seat 1 (SB) calls (0.90) Seat 2 (BB) folds. Seat 8 calls (0.75) I thought my raise of 4x the BB was a decent amount: it made the button fold and gave me position. ** Dealing Flop ** : [ 8s, 5h, Ah ] Seat 1 checks. Seat 8 checks. bcarter9653 bets (2.50) Seat 1 calls (2.50) Seat 8 folds. I threw in a bet of 3/4 of the pot to chase out the flush draw and I wasn't really bothered by the one caller because I had TPTK and position on him. ** Dealing Turn ** : [ 5s ] Seat 1 checks. bcarter9653 bets (5) Seat 1 calls (5) The check/call here seems like he has an ace too, but a questionable kicker. I'm thinking something like A 10. I really don't think that 5 on the turn helped him b/c I raised before the flop. ** Dealing River ** : [ 6c ] Seat 1 bets (16.25) Seat 1 is all-In. bcarter9653 folds. Creating Main Pot with $33.60 So with my read of A 10, I was more than surprised with this big bet. The river didn't bring a heart, so I wasn't up against a flush. I thought for a long time before folding. I decided that I had to, just had to be up against pocket 8's. To me, that is the only had that makes sense. He hit his set on the flop, saw the ace on board and knew he could slowplay his hand if I paired my ace. Now I don't have that much experience, but I definitely have some - and from playing at these $25 tables for over a month I have found out (sometimes the hard way) that people rarely throw out a huge bet without the nuts. ** Summary ** Main Pot: $33.60 | Rake: $0.90 Board: [ 8s 5h Ah 5s 6c ] Seat 1 balance $33.60, bet $24.75, collected $33.60, net +$8.85 What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for all constructive criticism.

I could definitely see him playing pocket 8's right there, but it seems a little bit strange to me that he check calls you twice then bets out with the rest of his stack, when you are clearly representing ace face. Maybe he put you on AK or AQ and assumed that you would have to call, but if he put you on AK I think he would have checked and let you raise... With the way you had been playing that hand and no real scare cards hitting the river, I can't see you checking with any hand which would call a 16$ bet. Was this player a donk? Is it possible he was playing like a 67s and decided to try and take the pot down when he hit his river pair/was pissed he missed the straight/flush? (slim chance I know... but some players do that stuff).Getting 3:1 on your money, I think that unless you were playing a really crappy player a fold was right.

Its an interesting question. I play NL all the time but usually not lower than 3-6 NL.. Here are my thoughts. If I just add zeros at the end of all the amounts... meaning the last bet would be approx. $165 into an approx. $185 pot.. I would give the guy credit for a better hand than yours... or a very good bluff becuase you represented strength through out the hand. If he flopped a set and didnt' raise on the flop it seems like a risky play giving you a cheap card to draw for your flush. On the turn he probably would have cold called hoping that you would make your flush on the river or atleast improve your hand. And then the over bet on the river to make it look like a bluff... I would have folded for $165 there.. but for $16 I would have called.. just to see what he had.. and I am pretty sure I would have lost that money.... AND THATS WHY i CAN'T PLAY THAT LIMIT.. :club:.. But I think that was the right fold.
