Mid stage NL tournament, I have about 6k, average probably somewhere around 9k. I get Q9s in the SB, and complete, BB (same chip count as myself), checks (2 limpers, button and midposition), blinds 100-200. Flop KKQ 1 spade, I check, BB bets minimum, MP + button fold, I call. Turn 8 of spades, I check, BB bet minimum, I call. River 4 of spades making me a flush. I check, BB bets 1k, your play? (Note: BB seemed like a solid player in my eyes.)

Call. 2nd nut flush to not much aggression, just call.
Calling is weak, you hit your backdoor flush and I doubt he was betting down with two spades. Minimum bets are suspicious but if you cold-call and he flips a K, you probably could have drained quite a bit more. Raise. Pushing will probably scare himyou want some value here. If he comes over the top, reconsider for the full house but this is a tournament and you have to take your plays where you can get them, which is before the blinds start eating your stack.

I'm guessing he has k-x. Since he bet the min. on the flop i would guess his kicker is low. So he may have u beat if he has k8 or k4 and since he checked in the bb u really have no way of knowing what he has. I think the fault in ur play here was playing so passively on the flop and turn instead of gaining some info which is what leaves u in this position. Judging by ur passive play i assume u ended up just calling. IMO I would move in as he will most likely call u with any k-x here whether he has the boat or not, and ur passive play suggests u probably just had a pair. I don't think he can put u on the flush or a k (at best k with very low kicker).
