When Michael Johnson set a new World Record for the 200m in 1996, his time for the last 100m was 9.2 seconds.
But he wasn't started from a stop, like the real 100 meter dashers do.Donovan owned him in their race, so much so, that Johnson had to fake a quad injury.

Johnson did pull up like a bitch in that race, I just thought the split times for his 200m were interesting. I also wonder what Johnson would have timed for 100m had he dedicated himself to that event.

Thats was the most embarassing moment for americans. Our canadian pwned you guys.I love how people thought it was even rational to think you can compare the 2nd 100m to Donovan's 100m dash.Hey guess what. my car does the 1/4 mile in 15 seconds., but if get it up to 100, then start the clock , i can do it in 10.

Michael Johnson owns the World Record in the 200 meters and the 400 meters (outdoor). He had five olympic golds and nine world championships. Bailey has two olympic golds and three world championships. Bailey may have won that 150 meter "World's Fastest Man" race, but let us not dog Johnson too much. He is easily one of the greatest sprinters of all time, while Bailey, while certainly good, is not in Johnson's league.

Correct. I'd even go as far as saying he is the greatest sprinter of all time.

100 metres is the race for "sprinters".  Johnson doesn't qualify.  Marion Jones should be your sprinting icon.
I seriously hope you are joking, and if you are, then I apologize beforehand, but.......Michael Johnson "doesn't qualify" as a sprinter!?!?!?! This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. What, are the 200 and 400 meter races distance races??? The 100 meters may be the most glorified event, but ask any sprinter and they will tell you that the 400 is the toughest race by far, so Johnson's greatness in the toughest event overshadow anyone else's achievements in the 100 meters.

I love this place; arguing over sprtinters!!Johnson is a sprinter and one of the best ever. These athletes train and specialize in their own distances. Any of them are out of their element when it comes to changing the event. Impossible to compare Johnson to Maurice GreenJust my two cents
