calling clock and what is considered reasonable?

Recommended Posts

I have been running a poker tourney at my home now for some time.Recently we have been experiencing a problem that I am unsure how to handle.Players are taking a LOOOOOONG time to decide what do when the action gets to them. So bad that sometimes we don't make a full table orbit before the blinds go up.A few of us will call CLOCK on a player...and then give them an additional 60 seconds...but that is after giving them a full minute already. Now I have some frustrated players calling clock after 10 seconds, causing other players to say they are absuing the rule (which I agree, but I feel like they are abusing the "reasonable time" to think on EVERY hand they are involved in.any suggestions?g

90seconds is plenty.People who watch poker on T.V. but can't play well, take a long time so they feel more importent.
that is what it feels like...plus i know that some players are trying to slow the game down with big stacks...so that the small stacks suffer against the bigger blinds.g

random? I don't understand. The game has been going on for a year.

after 90 seconds i will call a clock on them if they are always taking a long time to act. if its a player who very rarely takes alot of time or if its at a critcal time during a tournament i wont call a clock. the only exception would be if it gets very unreasonible like over 10 minutes

i can see taking a long time to make decisions if you are playing for LOTS of cash...but in a small home game where there isn't that much money on the line, you shouldn't have to take a long time to decide
