do the 'pros' play the wsop circuit events? tunica

Recommended Posts

I am planning on playing in the $500 + $50 NLHE WSOP Circuit Event in Tunica on August 14th. Just curious if anyone knows if the 'big name' players typically buy into these type events or do they just wait and show up for the big daddy $10,000 main event.Anyone else playing in these?

I didn't know about this but was planning to be there that weekend as well. Is the event full yet?
The events are not full and the guy I talked to yesterday said you could pretty much register day of or day before and still be OK. He recommended if you planned on staying to go ahead and book a room, cause hotel rooms could start filling up early. They have a $49 poker rate per night if your playing in the event.

I think I'm gonna pull half of it from my bankroll. My birthday was yesterday and I got some cash then and plus have some 'spending' money laying around. I really wanted to just play in one of the $300 events on August 11th or August 16th, but my work schedule makes it impossible

$49 for Harrahs but I am sure nearly all the places have poker rates. The event itself is being held at the Grand Casino

Well I played in the WSOP circuit at Harrah's N'Orleans this past May. I played in 2 small events, and yes there were some "big name pros", but the big name pros are no different than small time pros. Cause thats why I am. Nobody knows about me yet, but i consider myself a pro. Just because you've seen them on TV doesnt mean you should fear them, or call them a pro, cause you know how they may play certain hands. But anyway GL to you in Tunica, and yes they just might be there

I live in cookeville, do you play any home games that would be open to someone else?
No I dont. I pretty much only play online with the occassional vegas, atlantic city trip. I've actually never been to Tunica and its only 3 hours away, shame on me. About 7 or 8 of my neighbors get together once a month and play a $20 buyin ring style game which usually always ends in a big fight because they say I 'take poker too seriously and need to just relax and have fun'. Now I think about it I havent been invited to one of these games in the last month or two, hmmm.

DNA,Played at a WPT event at the Bellagio earlier this year1.5k, 2k and 2.5k eventsWould say that 50% of the "top 50" pros played in the events I entered.Sat with Luske, David Levi, Ron Rose and your friend and his... John Robert Bellande. All were fun to play with. Regular people; don't be intimidated.Basically, as the buy-ins grow the pros show up.Good luck and have fun :!:

i think i am going to try and play in the $500 Nl event on the 14th, too...or the $300 event on the 16th. should be fun. there will be a ton of good cash games at all the casinos during those weeks. quick question....all these will be 1 day events, right? and does the winner get a buy-in to the $10,000 buy in? not sure why i think that, so i thought i would ask.here is a link to the schedule:http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/GrandCas...asinoTunica.asp

DNA, FYI.. Harrahs is about 5 miles from the Grand. If the tournament is at the Grand try to stay at the Grand cause it sits alone all by itself at least 5 miles from every other casino.Staying at one casino and playing at the Grand would be very inconvienent, kind of like playing dowtown and staying on the strip in Vegas gl

If you go by the WSOP ESPN coverage, somehwat yes. The one I saw yesterday had Howard L, Robert W(Final table), Eric L, and others in it. The one before that had Jennifer Harmon if I remember correctly at the final table. So there definately is some pre representation...Ray
