Smasharoo 0
Nah, I go to Vegas to drink and have fun playing poker. The 1-3 game at the Excal is way more fun than playing 10/20 at the mirage or 8/16 at the O.I'd rather have fun and win $50 then work hard at making $500.If I played live for a living I'd obviously play higher.Besides, there's a free Buffet and a big wheel they spin when someone gets quads or better at 2-6. It's like playing on the set of Wheel of Fortune.I promised myslef I'd play there this time.I'll be back and we can play 8-16 at the O next time if you decide not to challange me to a duel while I'm there this time. RikyRicardo 0
guys everyone must agree that you fluctation at tighter games is less, but 10,000 hands later your BB/100 or hour is going to be higher in looser games. When you play with jackals understand that they are not playing the fundmental poker... they play bad and assume they are too good. I think you need to adjust your style depending on the game. That being said, changing always is hard to do... I have won a tone of money at party poker, stn gos included, 3-6 limit and $100NL, and I cash out often... I won't leave my bank roll up for grabs, I also sit and run... double or triple up and get off the table... this way they can't jackal me for all my money. I also get frustrated, and when I do I change sites for a while and let my head get out of the "what the F ck just happend, why am I always losing with strong hands" mentality
codyscherer 0
This is an interesting discussion to me regarding the tight and loose game and which one is more profitable. More than likely it depends on the way each individual plays. If you are timid and the maniac make you fold every hand cause you are scared of the big betting, well of course a tighter game is more your style. I am sure Smash means that with a loose table, you will get more money in the pot for your huge nut hands than if you had a tight table. And if you are a better player than the rest, you should know when to fold or cut your loses in a hand thus making the hands you play out and win higher than the money you lose in a pot you play it out and lose. Dont know if that makes sense. I would actually prefer about 3-4 really really loose players, and 2 tight players and the rest average. I think this is the key tables to get at because these tight players will keep you honest on these hands that get capped pre flop and after the flop. Any table at a high or low limit can hurt you if the style of your table effects your play I think. As far as the Kt suited big raises and the bad beat. I wouldnt have played it that way, but you were at the table and you knew what was going on. I will also admit, playing a hand like this at a table sometimes will make you more money in the long run because other people see what you 3 bet with pre and the rest of the way out and now when you 3 raise with AA they might not expect it. Getting caught sometime on an uncharacteristic play can make you money in long run every once in awhile.
jaffa_cake 0
I get so fed up of party poker sometimes. Today I play well at first, up about $15 at 0.50/1. Then for some reason, none of my good preflop hands start to hold up, and when I folded hands I should have folded, I would have hit the flop. It's so infuriating. Now that I'm $20 down after another load of suckouts, I think I'm going to stop playing there once I get my $200 bonus - I just can't deal with all the suckouts, and it's getting me too stressed. I'm moving over to no limit and tourneys after this, low limit seems like a crapshoot sometimes, plus the rake is probably afffecting my results too - the 0.50 rake comes in when the pot reaches $5. elkang 0
give me some counterexamples then smash, all you are doing is saying that i am wrong but not giving examples. And in my example of the 3-6 versus 20-40 i am talking about a good player, not any player. excuse me for that. profit margin is a measure of profitability calculated as net earnings divided by revenue. Profit margin is usually displayed as a percentage. In poker the term I see used is ROI (return on investment), which is the % of your profit divided by your buy-in. It should be common sense that in a higher limit game with better players, you will have a lower ROI or profit margin.I think what you meant is total profit. In higher limit games you will indeed make more money if you are adequate at that level.Honestly, I don't feel Smash has to answer (i.e. spend more time) more fully unless the poster warrants it. Simply, take his advice or leave it, or give him something better to chew on.
