what is a stop and go?

Recommended Posts

Not so much "betting and calling" the first street... it's more like this:Out of position, if you think you're ahead of an aggressive player, check to the donk, who bets, and you just call because if you raise you might get 3-bet (stop...).Then lead into him on the next street (and go!).In position, it's a just call to close the betting action, and get 'er dun on the next street.Works most effectively on the flop/turn, because that's when the betting stakes double... and your opponents odds are cut in half if they miss.

No, that's a slowplay. In order to stop, you have to have been going first. Betting and calling a raise, then leading out on the next street is a stop n go. There was a thread exactly like this a while back...

Stop-and-go in NLHE usually refers to all-in bets, in which you make a substantial raise/re-raise pre-flop (for example) with the intention of moving all-in regardless of what comes on the flop, as opposed to simply moving all-in pre-flop. At least that's what I've been led to believe, could be wrong.

Right. You're out of position. You bet, get raised by someone in a later position, then call their raise. Then you lead out on the next street....that's a stop n go...
