longest session? funny stories?

Recommended Posts

Just curious to see what is the longest session you've had? Mine is probably around 5 hours online, and 6 hours at a real casino...I know that's probably not much. Whats the longest session you've had before? And how did you do?Also, any funny stories about missing something important because you've been playing poker? A friend of my dad said he was late to his own wedding in Vegas because he was busy at the tables, on an incredible roll. Told his wife he was making money for the honeymoon. lolWhatcha got?

I think my longest session was about 7 hours at a home game, we played with these guys for the first time ever and they didn't raise the blinds at all, they just loved playing for hours and hours. But eventually it did come to an end and I took home 120 bucks :-)

Each week its becoming increasingly funny telling my admin co-ordinator to keep my wednesday AM diary free after staying up until 4am to play in the Tuesday Negreanu Open.

My sophomore year in college I lived in a fraternity house with about 50 guys (let's skip the gay jokes, shall we?). Me and my three closest friends would play for 12-15 hour sessions. Typically guys from the house, or drunk freshmen would stumble in, toss down $20, and lose all their money in less than an hour. I had nights when I would walk away with $300-$400 in winnings, which at the time was a huge deal to me. It was just enough to support my drug and alcohol dependence for the rest of the week.

My two longest sessions are also two of my most profitable. Though I'm not totally convinced there's a connection there. One was a 7-hour stay at a 2-4 table at Bally's in Atlantic City that produced a $147 profit. The other was a home game that lasted from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Made $81 in a 3-6 HE cash game, then picked up $140 for winning a small tournament. It seems like overall, I do better the longer I play, I just don't always have the time to put into it. Especially for AC, where it's 3 hours each way to get there and I generally only go for the day.

My longest was 38 hours... I actually had to be woken up at the table twice..... I was on an incredible rush I think i lost only 3 hands that I played.... I ended up cashing out up about 700 bucks and only playing 4-8 pretty decent session but way way too long i ended up getting sicker than crap after that

Mine is pretty short - 8 hours or so. But a guy I work with goes to the casino straight from work on Friday and then goes to work straight from the casino on Monday morning. We have verified it - he will play about 60 hours straight.

i moved to vegas 6 months ago and played for 26 hours straight the first time i played..left the table up $650....but i basically gave away $800 because i was the classic drunk guy at the table who thought his 10 4 looked like gold...oh well it was fun

i was playing at an india casino where i used to live in northern california about a month ago and i had been playing for 11hrs strait when the guys at the table started talking about how old they were when they graduated college and i accidently said that when i was 21 i would be graduating college. A couple guys at the table caught on and said "well how are you here if you are not 21" i paused for what seemed like eternity and told them that i would be graduating this year. Then they all started saying oh yeah sure and teasing me alot. I left the table 10 minutes later with about 450 dollars of profit. I am17 just for informational purposes.

what would happen if you get caught? Have to forfeit your chips and get kicked out? or would police be involved?

one time i was hitting double digit hours and i completely didn't see that i had a straight flush. 24 [smash], 38, and 50 hours straight [phil ivey] just seem insane to me, unless i'm doped up on methamphetamine.

Well if i would have been carded i couldnt have been caught because my id is a real idea and looks exactly like me...the only way i could be caught is if some one had my real id or had some kind of proof that i wasnt the guy on my id. And even if all of that happened...i would have just been told to cash out my chips and leave. i wouldnt loose my money or anything. Atleast that is what happened to my friend when he got caught without an id.

my longest session for live action was 12 hours at a casino. i believed i profited around $300 playing 6/12. my longest online was actually tonight (MLK day, no class here). I played from about 9pm till 5am. ended the night up $550 playing two 5/10 tables. i usually hate to play this long cause i start making stupid mistakes but it happened to work tonight.

longest session: 36 hrs net profit: 300$ (30bb @ 5-10)Just annoying when you dont drag a pot for the first 6 hours of the session, so when you get even you feel like its a waste of time. And i dont really settle into a session for the first couple hours. I find after a few hours i get into a groove, and can play almost indefinitely. 2 coffees and a joint every hour are essential to maintain the groove. 12+ sessions are the norm for me, you gotta keep playing when conditions are favourable.

I went down to Vegas for the first and only time with my two buddies during the 2004 wSOP to watch the main event. One day we decided to go to the Sahara and play some 2/4 limit. We started playing around noon and ofcourse ordered the complimentary beer, bud light at that time. Drank about one an hour until the $40 tournament at 6:00 plus $20 add on when i stopped drinking. I didn't make the money and around 9:00 started playing the 2/4 again and started drinking bailey's and coffee.. which i thought was just coffee. My friends left at midnight, but i was on a roll and having fun so I stayed. Before I knew it 7:00am rolled around along with a new batch of guys my age that seemed cool. They had a brilliant idea to start a shot club, so we started ordering shots for the whole table. I really can't recall how many shots I did, but next thing I knew, it was 6:00 pm, I was sitting at a differen't 2/4 table and my friend's were pulling me away as I was throwing the last of my money away on 2 3 offsuit. *Financial aspect of this 30 hour session -- bought in for 200, someone won a bad beat at another table, so got another 212, lost 60 in the tournament, probably up about another 100 or so before getting blitzed, then walked away with not one single chip at 6pm the next night. Drinking to the point of not remembering what just happened while playing poker is not a good idea, but is a damn good time :-)

I've had numerous 20 hours session and 3-5 in the 30 hour range. My longest session was a 41 hour session. I started playing 15/30 holdem on Friday at about noon and played till noon the next day... at noon they spread a 20/40 HO game which was juicy so I took my chips and bought some more and played in that game until 5am Sunday for a total of about 41 hours. At the end of the session I ended up playing heads-up with a guy for about 5 hours and managed to get ahead 300 for the total session. I have since began to limit myself and the amount of long sessions that I play. I wasn't right for 3 days after, and the drive home was unbelieveable... plus I had a friend that came to the casino with me as well. He didn't play the entire time... but most of it as well... with 2 separate sessions of sleep in the car for him. Totally ignorant to play that long... b/c it seems I only play that long when Im stuck... bad habit to get in... finally decided that I would no longer play for more then 16 hours... normally only play 8-10 hrs... however, on occasion I will play up to 12 now.

Longest session for me was last Oct at Bellagio. 12 hours at the 2/5 NL cash game. Profit $700. It is funny to me that I can fall asleep anywhere and usually do everynight in front of the TV, but put me in a poker room and I am good for 24 hours.Funny thing about that session was that came on the end of a Vegas trip that started out with arriving in Vegas just after midnight and not getting a room until the next day. Actually I was up 42 hours straight until I called it a night the next night.

Just this past weekend was a long run, but more profitable than long(ive run longer sessions) ... went to Tunica to hit some tournys and see how many tourny chips I could get(goal was the mainevent as cheap as possible) Anyway ... I ended up playing two satelites ... the ring games were just too good. At about 7pm on thurs night I sat down at the 1/2 NL table. I bought in for 120$(all that was in my wallet without making a trip to the car) At 8am I walked away from the table with 1,201$ If I didn't have a tournament at 4 that afternoon I would have stayed longer. The next night a 4 hour sessions resulted in 120$(i got superstitious) turing into 580$.All in all a profitable run :D Longest runs though have been weekenders where i know I only have about 36 hours total in the casino (im from atlanta so philidelphia ms is the closest decent game i can get(10/20 limit)) so I will usually play for a solid 32 hours .... Its wierd, it does not affect my play in any form or fashion. I can be 30 hours in to a session, and 48 into no sleep and play just as well as waking up after 10 hours. My guess is im paying such forward attention to the game I don't give myself a chance to get tired. Now however when I walk away from the table for more than 10 minutes im done .... I can't take a stretch to go get food otherwise Im worthless when I get back. For example, after playing 12 hours Sunday night/Monday morning I had to leave to head home for work on Tuesday. About an hour into the drive I had to pull over and sleep, when just an hour before I swear i could have ran a marathon. At the very least played marathon poker.

Labor day weekend. My first trip to Las Vegas with my coworkers.Arrived in Vegas around 11 AM and checked into the Bellagio. Headed straight to downtown to the 4 Queens around 12PM. Played two satellites, then headed to Horseshoe to play the 2PM tourney with 95 players in it. I make the final table at the Horseshoe and had my friend register me at the $120 4 Queens Classic tourney (176 players) that started at 7PM. Around 7:30PM during one of our breaks at the final table, I had to run over to the 4 Queens to play a hand so that they knew I was playing in the tourney or they would remove my chips from play. I ran back to the Horseshoe to finish out the final table and got 5th place. Ran back to the 4 Queens to finally play in that tourney. I missed the first 4 blind level and finally had to use my 1 rebuy. After grinding it out, I eventually made the final table and finished in 10th place around 2 am. I stuck around to watch my buddy play the final table which he ended up chopping 1st/2nd place prize money.I played about 14 hours of poker and made two final tables in one day. Played at the Plaza's Ultimate Poker Challenge two days later and made that final table placing 2nd. Final table consisted of 3 pros: Andy Bloch, Mel Judah, Erik Seidel. Not a bad way to start out your first time in Las Vegas. I never had to dip into my bankroll because I was freerolling from the winnings.

We have a loose rule that you're not allowed to sleep in Vegas if it's a weekend trip. (It seemed to carry more weight when I was in my twenties, though...)My longest stint at a table playing poker is about 12 hours (at the Mirage). But I did play blackjack once in AC for almost 24 hours (I ended up down, but I don't recall how much). Finally, as a non-Vegas resident, my longest trip lasted 11 days. That doesn't strike me as particularly odd, but when I've mentioned that to relative non-gamers here in SoCal, they react as if I'm nuts...
