cgrohman 0
I was just wondering if anyone could help me get inside someone's head- What did this guy think I had?I was on a party poker multi-table with about 700 entrants. Blinds start at 10-15 with 15 minute levels. I literally did not play one hand for the first fifteen minutes. I then caught KK in the cutoff. One limper, I raised to 60. Button (1250) raises to 105. Limper calls. I could have put in a pot sized reraise, but I thought I might have gotten both of them to call, which I dont want- so i moved in for 975 total. The button called fairly quickly and the limper folded. I expect the button to turn up AA, QQ, AK or maybe JJ after he called. Instead he turns up AJ. My question is- what does he think I have? What hand does AJ beat that i could reaosnably hold in this situation? Thanks,c
econ_tim 0
My question is- what does he think I have? What hand does AJ beat that i could reaosnably hold in this situation?Fish don't make reasonable plays. That's why they're fish. He probably thought you had TT or maybe any pair, or maybe that you were trying to bluff. Who knows. Anyway, don't let these suckouts scare you from making the right plays. Keep pushing aces and kings preflop.
eleutheromaniac 0
Honestly, all he sees is the ace (the face-card kicker just sweetens it). I was involved in a pre-flop all-in, QQ vs. A8o, and after the hands were flipped over the player with A8o said "Good, I like that". In other words, he'd rather have his hand than mine. I guess, in his mind, he thought that as long as I don't have and ace with a better kicker, he's ahead. I hope that gives you a better idea of how these people 'think'. PrtyPSux 0
My question is- what does he think I have?he doesnt think, thats the thing..AJ AJ AJ YAAAAAAY AJ! ..thats what goes through his brain. After being knocked out of the tourneys by gutshots, flush draws, getting my kings cracked by AQ's and AJ's, and getting my steals called by AJo. I decided to take a new aproach which is not going all-in unless I absolutely have to. Bet the pot if an A flops and u get bet into fold, if u run into a set too bad, if the flop comes rags and u push and get called by a gutshot and he beats u, punch ur monitor and then chase him around for the rest of the tourney and call him an idiot. Fish are like bear traps in tourneys, take small pots from them but avoid them sucking out on u if u can.

cgrohman 0
Thats not a bad idea Party. Had I just reraised preflop or flat called, I could have moved in at the flop whcih was Q high and they might have folded.

CobaltBlue 662
Had a similar "GOR!" moment a few days ago.Early in a money NLHE tourny. I'm sitting on 1,300 chips in the SB w/ AA. UTG w/ 1,000 makes a decent size raise. One MP caller w/ around 1,300. I make a big re-raise. UTG goes all-in. MP calls. I go all-in. MP calls.UTG shows QQ.MP shows 77.Spikes a 7 on the flop and takes us out.Me: "Great call."MP: "Not really, but I'll take it."Not a bad beat story so much as a "What the heck were they thinking?" one. Herr Mensch 0
I was on a party poker multi-table I literally did not play one hand for the first fifteen minutes. These two statements achieve a special anti-synergy. I would lay long odds that there was exactly one player, you, that noticed that you hadn't played a hand.Personally, I can only pay attention to that if I am single-tabling, and I only do that late in tournaments, on the bubble, when I really need to, y'know? If I'm on 4,3, even 2 tables, I usually can't keep up with who does what if I'm not in a hand. Maybe that's just me, though. I only recently started multitabling regularly.Mensch
