It depends what you mean by 'not protecting'.If you have to lean back to get a glimpse of his cards, that's a bit too much.If you can just glance over and see his cards, by all means go for it. Protecting your cards is one of the easiest parts of the game to get right. If your opponent can't do that, you're going to win.

Can't help but look... Honestly I will ussually tell them once, and if they continue to make the error well... I will bust out a rounders quote "It's immoral to let a sucker keep his money" Slim said that I think? Not gonna google it..

When playing live and a person next to you is not careful about protecting their hole cards, should you look?
I do. And like Jayson, I'll always tell them once that I can see their cards, but if after the warning they still don't do a good job of protecting them, then i'll have a look.

do motorsports teams tell the other if they see thier pit strategy?Do coaches tell their oponent if they know their plays?A sport is about performing to your best, and taking advantage of the others who are not. Part of performing at your best is protecting your card and keeping their identity concealed. What if a guy has a tell (the same as showing you his cards) do you tell him? hell no.If you don't I will take advantage. and not feel bad about waking to the cage with your chips.

Im with screech here. If you have to adjust the way youre sitting to look thats going to far, and it seems pretty obvious to me. But if your opponent is just not protecting his cards, thats his own fault

My favorite are the ones who turn their cards up 90 degrees to the table. If you're going to look at your cards like that, for all the rest to see as well, I see no reason in letting them know about it.Like what was mentioned before, protecting your cards is one of the easiest aspects of the game. Of course, when someone is trying to protect their cards, and not doing the greatest job, I'll let them know about it.

At a home game/tourney I played in, this guy would hold his cards out with 1 hand at ARMS LENGTH and then lift up just the first quarter of the card so he could see the suit/value. It took ZERO effort to see his cars. No, better yet, I would have had to go out of my way to NOT see his cards. I was on the BB with K/Q, I see he has J/9. He calls and everybody else folds. I check. Flop comes out K, J, 4. I check and he makes a massive overbet of the pot. The little blind folds and I raise him all in. He calls in a flash. That was one of the easiest double-ups of my life.I personally wouldn't even tell the guy one time if he's showing me his cards. It's part of the game. Keeping your holdings a secret is your own responsibility. If you can't do that much, try video poker.

I always tell if the person is across the table from me. I can't believe noone else at the table wouldnt say somethin. Im not about to let the guy sitting next to the idiot get info Im not getting. If the guy is sitting next to me I'll never tell. I play 8/16 at the cardroom. I assume you know how to protect your hand. If you dont thats not my problem. Im there to win moeny and Im not gonna make it harder on myself if I dont have to.

Didn't we already go over this? If you're the type of person that likes to get ahead, without regard to what you should do, then go for it. Take advantage of the guy and take all his money, leave happy and jusitify it with "he's stupid for not protecting his hand" Buy something nice.

If you're fortunate to catch a glance at an opponents cards, by all means take advantage.Otherwise, you shouldn't be sticking your neck out and about to see what your opponents have.

Not quite on topic but I love the players across the table who telegraph their fold AND tip their cards up slighlty towards me (unknowingly) so I know what they are folding, helps me calculate my outs better.
